MSI Rolls Out Expansive List of Motherboards That Support Phenom II X6 Processors

To facilitate the upgrade to AMD's next-generation processors, world-renowned mainboard and graphics card manufacturer MSI has announced that all AMD series products will be compatible with the Phenom II X6 6-core processor. With a simple BIOS update, older MSI AM3 mainboards will be capable of supporting this processor.

The all-new Phenom II X6 processor features 45nm processing technology, a true six-core design which can execute 6 threads simultaneously and the AMD Turbo Core Technology. What's more, with up to 9 MB cache, overall performance is significantly enhanced compared to the previous generation Phenom II X4 processor. The Phenom II X6 is the best option for the latest and most powerful MSI based AMD platform.

Check the table above, download the corresponding BIOS update for your current MSI AM3 mainboard to support this all-new, next generation processor. For more information, visit this page.

What exactly do they mean by "ALL?" I see my K9A2 CF AM2+ board on the list but I don't see my 770-C35 AM3 board there.

Clearly, "MSI Rolls Out an Extensive List of Motherboards That Support Phenom II X6 Processors".

In any case, bring on the 6-cores and let's see how CS5 likes them.

Nice to see that my board is on that list. I have not seen the 1.C bios listed yet.

Not trying to bag on the chip, but isn't mentioning 'The all-new Phenom II X6 processor features 45nm processing technology, a true six-core design which can execute 6 threads simultaneously' kind of pointless. I don't get the point of saying 'true six-core design'. In the old days they were just bashing Intel for being hopeless and making dual-die parts, but now the i7 980X is true six-core as well.
