Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB

Hi,
Is this a good quality card? I can get one here in Canada for $439.99 + Taxes. I usually buy XFX, but try and find one.

EDIT: Found one. Thanks anyway.

Since most of the 5870's are reference cards then really it doesn't matter which brand you are buying. Sapphire, however, only has a two year warranty whereas XFX has a double life-time warranty. That is, you can register it to yourself and if you ever sell the card then you can have the warranty applied to that person...for life.

Either way though, you really can't go wrong with the Sapphire.

I have XFX XXX Black Edition 5850 and it runs amazing. I have it flashed to XFX 5970 @ 920/1200 stable at stock voltages and it hasn't let me down yet. I've been using XFX since I had my XFX nVidia GT 7950, never gave me problems!

That sucks that you couldn't find the XFX XXX BE, last time I check they were sold out everywhere ... Enjoy the Sapphire, they are good cards

PS - I do a lot of testing for software companies and do a lot of custom builds as well. I'm new to this site so I'm not allowed to post yet because I think I have to go through some sort of "trial period" before I can post to the classifieds.

You can do all that good stuff here, just read the rules before doing so. Good luck

Just wondering, when you flash the 5850 to the 5870 bios, does it give you the same performance as a 5870?

Yes, because you can unlock greater clock speeds w/o using 3rd party o/c'ing programs ... the only thing you'd need to do is change the voltage a little bit for higher clock speeds.

There is a section on here on how you can achieve this...it takes some time and you need to do it at your own discrection, because it VOIDS your warranty if you Brick your card

This is what both of my 5850 in crossfire are clocked atm

Thanks, a guy offered a trade of $75 for my 5870 along with his 5850 and I might take him up on that and do this.
