Galaxy GTX 470 GC Version Graphics Card Unveiled

Galaxy is ready with its 100% non-reference design graphics card based on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 GPU, the Galaxy GTX 470 GC Version. The card makes use of Galaxy engineering with both the PCB and cooler designs. The card features a blue PCB, which is 0.5 inch shorter than the reference design (at 9 inches), and pushes the two 6-pin power connectors to the rear-end of the card. The cooling assembly uses a large aluminum fin array cooling all vital parts, covered with a silvery plastic found on action figures. Galaxy innovated a little with the fan, which can be partly detached from the rest of the cooler to help clean it and the heatsink under it.

The card is overclocked out of the box, with speeds of 625 MHz / 1250 MHz / 837 or 3348 MHz (effective), for the core, shader, and memory, respectively. Like every other GTX 470 based card, it is DirectX 11 compliant, and has 448 CUDA cores, 1280 MB of GDDR5 memory across a 320-bit wide interface, and is 2/3/4-way SLI capable. Display connectivity includes two DVI-D, and HDMI with integrated audio. A test by the source shows that with this cooling solution, the GTX 470 GC Version manages to keep the GPU at around 88 degrees Celsius with Furmark load. It is expected that the card will be available in the US as early as by tomorrow.

I was going to say, that looked like a toy.

I almost expected to see a mighty max underneath the fan lid thing.

Agreed. The gray made it look more so.

I think they did that on purpose, to look like all those plastic glue-it-together kits, airplanes, starships and what not.

The fan hinge goes together with it, like s space ship hatch opening Don't know if I like it, but it's different that's for sure!

But the cooler under looks like it means business, so you could just rip the top part of (and give it to your kid, if you have one to play around) and put a proper fan on top of it.

Dad gets a toy, kid get a toy, fun for whole family!

I find that kinda nice, and can imagine few ways to easy mod it to other colors and looks. Plus, if it cools that good as it looks, hell, than it should be great.

Btw. anyone else think about getting some damaged Vapor-X graphic card and use that cooler on GTX 470/480?

Okay, now THAT is a really nifty idea for a video card HSF. If a company made aftermarket coolers with that feature built-in I'd overcome my nervousness of replacing one in a moment. Heck, they could even go one step further and make different color modular covers to allow users to coordinate their interiors.

I don't see how a brush is going to remove all the dust. A can of air would be better IMO. Unless the intent is to remove the top layer of dust.

It's easier to get a close-up pictures of. Put canned air there and all you'd see was a red straw But the fins entrance is the area that could get blocked and a brush will fix that. As long as there is air flowing through, even if fins are dusty it still cools.
