I'm gonna buy this PSU 1050w, is it good?

Hey, I need a new PSU because im going to build a PII X6 with OC.
The best PSU for the price i found is the Tacens radix III 1050 w smart modular for 127 €. I also could buy the radix III 1050 w normal for 105 €, but i prefer the first.
I only found a review and they say its good and a worth buy. What is your opinion?

iv never herd of that brand... go for a corsair, antec or simmiler quality psu.

also, what do u plan on plugging into the psu.... 1000 watts is a bit extream

I went to the Thermaltake page and calculated the power i need for my future system. Its says @1000 w. Yes i got surprised when i saw that, i will post now and put the future system, i also like the Thermaltake ThroughPower XT 875 W

Edit: My new system will be a 890FX motherboard,a PII X6 1090T @4 ghz, with 2x2 gb ddr3 ram, 1 dvd drive, 3 fans 120mm, a HIS 5770 with some OC, 2 usb connectors getting power all the the time, and 3 HDD'S sata. I think thats all. The power calculator tells me more than 900 W. I put the capacitor aging thing( I will have this system for at least 2-years) and 85% TDP CPU, also this calculator doesnt have the X6, so i put a Deneb x4 at 3400 and OC'ed it to 4000 with 1.5 v. Maybe im wrong and i have enough with less than 900 w. Anyway that Tacens is cheaper than the Thermaltake i said b4. Thanks for reading

I don`t think that in reality you need that much power, maybe with safety factor of 2.
X6 don`t consume much more power than x4 phenoms and 5770 has low power draw also.
Consider this if your system actually needs 1KW of power. What about people that are going to CF 5870 which is not that uncommon situation.

Corsair 750W would be more than enough and give you room for gfx upgrades/expansion in the future. Don't go for a cheaper 1000w, you'll regret it!

an x6 and a 5770 wont need more then a 650 watt psu for 3 years.

you could prolly run crossfire 5770s.

currently running my system on a 500 watt psu,

im fairly sure my gfx card pulls a bit more power then the 5770.
running 7 HDD's 11 large fans and water cooling.

sure im only running a dual core at 4ghz but it wont be much of a difference in power consumption as one might think.

you could safely run that system even with a HX620 or 520, just anything from the seasonic (corsair/antec), and maybe thermaltake (but quality varies significantly...).

Usually those PSU calculators are dubious and are a nice way to trick the consumer into buying a more expensive product... its all marketing, back a few years ago shops in most places were convincing people to buy high end 600W PSUs when all they had was a 7900GS in their system.

The most that your phenom system will ever pull is a bit less than 300W, and that's under ridiculous loading.

Its not about how much power they supply but more importantly the voltage ripple at whatever load you use the PSU at.

I'd grab any corsair thats around 500W.

I ran an overclocked Q9650 with an overclocked HD4870X2 on an Enermax Modu82+ 625W PSU.

You don't need more than a good 650W, even if you plan to CF HD5770s on your rig.

You do realise that this PSU really only offers 850W maximum on the 12v lines. You are better of with any of the better known brand PSUs(Corsair, Enermax, Antec, ...)

If you need a 100W PSU for that then I better grab a 1650W

PSU's commonly referrer to their overall wattage for their rating to make them look better, and their 12v wattage is actually lower, even Corsair, their 750W PSU puts out 720W to the 12V lines. It's not as large of a discrepancy, but it still is one, and it's quite common.

Yes, a PSU's rating is for their overall wattage combined - and then they can use peak output (they can output it in specific conditions - say room temps below 20C, even if the burn into a crisp from doing so for more than a minute or two)

corsair basically rates them lower than they can handle, because they dont fail if you're only running them at 80% of their REAL capacity (whereas cheap units state 100% of their capacity... or they overstate it)

my system<< uses less than 200W when load.
and for your system 650W Corsairs, Enermax is more than enough even if you go for the 5770 Tri-Fire.

HX750 is the top of the line from corsairs, you can't go wrong with them.

That's a good choice Drac. As others have said, that will be more than adequate for your needs. You would also be fine with the 620w or 650w PSUs from Corsair.

I've run a Phenom II X4 955BE @ 3.5GHz and a 9800 GT OC'd (Linpack + Furmark) on a Dell 350w PSU with no issues (except the PSU fan went crazy fast under load, but it maintained itself). Model was Dell L350N-00 (Lite-On) with the following specs: +3.3v 17A, +5v 22A, +12v-A 18A, +12v-B 18A, and it is rated for continuous 350w and ambient temperatures up to 50c. I normally use a Mushkin XP-800AP (Topower) PSU though.

+1 for the Corsair HX750. My dad owns one and it hasn't seen too much load, but it is a very good PSU.

Model was Dell L350N-00 (Lite-On) with the following specs: +3.3v 17A, +5v 22A, +12v-A 18A, +12v-B 18A, and it is rated for continuous 350w and ambient temperatures up to 50c. I normally use a Mushkin XP-800AP (Topower) PSU though. +1 for the Corsair HX750.
