The link to heatware was for when there was a thread on heatware which has now been consolidated to this thread and the link has been replaced with "see below". LiNkiN's link is working for me.

Under Only post in a FS/FT thread if you are..., where it says:

"3) Negotiating the price of an item you want to buy. (But this should be done through private messages.)"

If this "should be done through private messages," then why is it listed as a legitimate reason to post in a thread? I suggest removing that unless there's a reason for it I'm not aware of.

Point taken, and guidelines will be updated shortly.

Updated the guidelines to reflect negotiating in PMs only. Not sure what's up with the "handwritten" thing. Please send me a PM.

Edit: Updated with an emphasis on names in pictures are to be hand written only.

if it came bundled with that PC/hardware, my vote says yes.

Like, you bought a retail HDD and it came with cloning software - yes, include it. or a DVD burner with OEM nero.

This is going to sound ridiculously stupid but how do I add images into the post? I know I can add an attachment, and then there's another button to enter the URL link to the image (have no idea what that is). But how do I get the image to appear directly in the thread?

TPU newb here, sorry.

Go to www.techpowerup.org and upload your pic there. Once it's uploaded it will show the picture and underneath the picture will be an image tag: [IMG]your picture here[./IMG] Copy and paste that tag into the post.

By the looks of it here you can sell an OEM OS with original PC etc but there is something that I read earlier this year: if you sell an OEM PC with the original OEM OS Disk that's still packaged/unopened, you're not allowed to call the OS Disk 'new', it has to be called 'unused'...

Hypothetically, would the no 'OEM OS for sale' rule forbid me to give away an OEM OS on TPU without any hardare? (obviously as long as it's not given away with an item that someone's bought)

Thanks

Personally, i see no issue with a FF/giveaway of an unused OEM OS.

The stickers on the side of MS ones say you cant sell it, not that you cant give it away.

Thats my opinion, but it'll take the mods who've been in this section for longer than i, to make a final decision.

Mussels suggested I post this here:

To the best of my knowledge, TPU has no rule against requesting non-CC (credit card) PayPal payments. If the buyer sources his funds from his PayPal account or bank account (not from a credit card), there is no fee for the payment (as far as I know). Is requesting non-CC payments here acceptable?

If you take a look over at [H], it's a common seller request. Not sure where else it might be as well, not that it's okay because it's done other places. However, I think it's fair to request it, and if people want to pay with a CC-sourced PayPal payment, they can just PM the seller to negotiate a price. Those fees can make a significant difference with some of the cutthroat-competitive prices on private forum sales.

So would something like "prices reflect non-CC PayPal payments, PM to negotiate prices if paid by other means" be allowed in a FS thread?

personally i have nothing against asking it, all i know is that its going to reduce the amount of people willing to buy from you - one less recourse for the buyer should things go wrong.

IMO, you could just say "extra $5 for all orders if you pay via credit card paypal"
