which ssd

i really want to get one now that i have some money saved up, but dont want to spend too much on it. which ssd out there is priced good and performs well? im looking at around 40 gbs (using it for os and some apps, rest go on sata hd). i guess my budget being around 100-150. preferably closer to 100. thanks in advance

oh and i ask here cuz i always get the best advice here

oh and i read somewhere that when using a ssd, turn off page file?

for 100-150 you can get a 32gb-64gb ssd with trim support.

i remind you AMD has not worked on trim yet so the darkside (intel) has support for SSD already.

some members will also fill you in i juss know the icing. remember its not about gigs rather performance

Que? Intel makes SSD's, AMD does not. TRIM is supported by Windows 7 and by alot of recent SSD's. It's not dependant on having AMD/Intel in your machine.

As for choosing an SSD: TRIM support is criterium no. 1 in my opinion.

What are you looking for in terms of speed? You can get a Postville 40GB with TRIM for 90 euros here.

yeah thats what i meant. if there's a source around here it'll be posted. sorry about the grammar copusion.

also to add when installing an OS onto your SSD to let it install its own drivers.

Windows 7 default AHCI drivers support TRIM pass-through to the SSD, regardless of the chipset.
