The rate that nVidia's going, who knows. The competition has them beat pretty much right now...

why the hell are you waiting? nvidia isnt going to get cheaper any time soon. not unless the GTX495 drops the prices, even if it does it wont be enough to justify the wait.

not to mention there only going to release slower cards not faster (except the 495) witch is going to be around the $900 mark.....

If they ever do make a dual GPU card, i highly doubt it'll cost almost $1000(maybe $650 to $700)

Also thats how it's been done for a while now(both Ati and Nvidia), release the two ''performance'' cards(5850, 5870, GTX 470/480), then relese the ''extreme'' dual GPU cards and soon after the lower end cards will come and fill up the mainstream market.

@subhendu
I don't understand why you would sell your 5850 that's an above mainstream card, it will perform better then anything Nvidia will release in the mainstream market. Get a GTX 465 if you want to go Fermi, it's not to pricey and is a great performer from what i have read.

galaxy is creating the GTX495, so it is coming very soon. or so i would imagine since they anounced it not too long ago,

if i was going fermi i would go the 470, it has great overclocking capabilities. the 465 would be a downgrade from a 5850.

the 5970 costs $900 so i dont see why the GTX495 would cost any less. 1 GTX470 is currently $420.

the best price i can see for the GTX495 is 750 - 850, more likely 900 when it 1st comes out.

(GTX495 is 2x GTX470s.)

get yourself a GTX470 Zotac, i havnt seen a 470 that hasnt overclocked etleast 10 %, (it seems 20-25% is a very likely overclock speed)

there a decent brand, my GTX260 AMP2 is made by zotac, it work VERY well i have had NO problems with it at all... i have even droped the card a couple times (by accident of course), opened it full up fucked with it put it backtogether and it works fine.

definetly a quality build. (it also overclocks quite well)

I made a mistake, you're in Australia, so the pricing is higher.

I agree with what you're saying in that case.

A GTX 465 should be able to handle that res pretty well, but just don't expect to max every setting out in game.

Yeah but he also dropped ATI for no valid reason other than that he prefers Nvidia..

OP: You said so yourself, you don't have the money to buy a 495 or 480 so your only logical choices available on the market right now are the 470 and 465 cards.

Don't get the 465 unless you can get it for much less than the $280 retail. If you must go Nvidia then get the GTX 470.

I agree about the GTX 470, i have one and it's a great card imo. It's definitly not the cheapest out there but it's a great performer overall.

The shocking thing is.. he liked it.
And now he's willing to lose money and switch to a worse card (GTX465), just because it's the brand he owned for 7 years.

It's like he tried to cure himself for some kind of addiction but couldn't stay away from the "juice".
