Dragon Age II Announced

Quote:
BioWare and Electronic Arts have announced Dragon Age II, the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age II is scheduled to release in March 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

The game will take place in a new area of the world, although the exact location has not yet been revealed. It stars Hawke, a human hero who rises from poverty to become one of the most powerful people in the Dragon Age world over the course of the game, which spans ten years. Although there will still be multiple races in the game, Hawke will be either a male or female human.

Beyond this basic information and two pieces of concept art, Bioware has said little about Dragon Age II. We'll be able to learn more on July 17, when the first trailer for the game will be released.
Well, as the title says, Bioware and Electronic Arts have announced Dragon Age II to be released in March 2011. Again, it will be released on the PC, PS3, and XBox 360. There's not a lot of info yet, but it's good to know we'll be getting it rather quickly. Here's the link to the article: http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q3-2010/070810d.html

EDIT: I just checked out the official site and it looks like the article I posted might be wrong about when the trailer will be released. According to the official site, the debut trailer will be on August 17.

Awesome, I figured that was the big secret announcement Bioware would make today. Still need to play the first one on PC. PC versions are almost always the best ones these days, often with full Xbox 360 controller support. No need for a console almost.

Well there isn't really info on that sort of thing right now, but I really hope it isn't. The series is still pretty young and in my opinion it would be a horrible idea to do an MMORPG until the series is better established.

Sweet, know their would be but still. I hope they release the full game this time as it seemed that some of the DLC's should of been in the game in self in the 1st place.

Hoping it's kind of set in the past, before the Dwarfs were crushed, and maybe more of the Qunari.

Only one race, male or female.

Hum.. Dragon Age 2 is more mass-effect-ish?

I was honestly hoping for continuing the Origin's storyline, even if it was about (spoiler)following Morrigan's son which has the powers of an archdemon (spoiler).

Even if it's not the same as DA:O, I thinks it's going to be a very good game.
Bioware doesn't usually release crap.

Edit : Hey one more post and I'll be eligible for a custome title ... oh wait. :/

Hmmmm, maybe it's a relative of Duncan. Actually if we played as Duncan that would be pretty cool.

It's a long shot but who knows. Besides that was only one choice so it would ultimately depend on if they decided to base a story on that particular ending.

Well, they'll have to choose one canonic ending, eventually.

More info

Quote:
1. Hawke will be a voiced character.
Unlike Dragon Age: Origins, the player’s character in Dragon Age II will be fully voiced. This opens the door for a more cinematic approach to dialogue and creates an identity for the character outside of the text you see on-screen. It also eliminates those awkward scenarios where you feel like your character should be reacting, but instead just stares blankly without so much as a grunt.

2. Hawke is human.
Yes, that means that you won’t be able to select Hawke’s race. However, just because that one aspect of Hawke’s backstory is set doesn’t mean BioWare is eliminating character creation. You can still choose your class and customize your appearance. When we visited BioWare’s studio, we only saw (and heard) the male Hawke in action, but the team promises that players can select either gender for the character.

3. Hawke didn’t just survive the blight…he escaped it.
As the Grey Warden from Dragon Age: Origins was fighting darkspawn, Hawke was living in Lothering. Fans will remember that the small village was raided and destroyed (an event that occurred off-screen in Origins), and Hawke was one of the survivors. However, rather than stay and fight the darkspawn menace, Hawke flees Ferelden and heads north.

4. Hawke is the Champion of Kirkwall.
Kirkwall is a major population center in the Free Marches, a collection of city-states north of Ferelden. This means that at least some of the action in Dragon Age II will be set in Kirkwall itself, though Hawke will also spend time in other areas of the Free Marches. What exactly Hawke does to earn the honorary title of Champion, however, is up to you.

5. Hawke drives the story.
Dragon Age II is not about killing an ancient evil or about quelling another blight; Hawke is the driving force behind the narrative. Over the course of the game’s 10-year timeline, players’ actions and choices will determine Hawke’s history, relationships, and regrets…all in service to answering the larger question: Who is the Champion of Kirkwall?
More Info:

Quote:
Kirkwall is a city located in the Free Marches, south of the Vimmark Mountains, west of the Planasene Forest, and north across the Waking Sea from Ferelden. Hawke is known to be a Champion of Kirkwall

Bit of an update, it is known that Flemeth will appear in this game, and that Mages will be more flexible in battle.

Some more concept art:
