ATi Catalyst Video Settings

So I thought I'd share my settings for video playback in CCC. These settings I use seem to give me the best picture, but I'm also just wondering what some of you use, if you even use it at all?

Anyways, if you haven't set these settings, give it a try as it really improves image quality. Your settings may vary based on preference and monitor. I'd like to see what you all use to perhaps get an even better picture out of my setup so post em' up!

I've actually never messed with any of it, gonna start with your settings as a base-line and see how it goes.

Though one thing I noticed, The last screenshot with advanced quality, below that section you have Windows Media Settings with WMV Acceleration...I am missing that for some reason. Though I do have Video Playback with the box checked to "Enforce Smooth Video Playback". I'm running Cat 10.6's atm. I checked Windows Media Player and DX accell for WMV is enabled. Probably nothing big, just something I caught going through the settings. I'll report back after a couple of movies.

Ironic, I don't have 90% of these settings/the option to use them on my HTPC card...

this is what i use

1. Reset settings then
2. Turn off dynamic contrast,
3. Change auto deinterflace to vector adaptive,
4. Turn off edge detect
5. Set denoise to 25 (not needed for HD)
6. Set mosquito noise reduction to 25,
7. Set dynamic range to 0-255

I have found anything above 16 on denoise causes blurring and blocking on gradients.

I hate dynamic contrast, what a fing joke. maybe back when shit was really crappy it worked good, but with newer monitors it looks like crap.

and don't forget to check if your player actually uses those settings. enable demo mode split screen, if you dont get the split screen display you are not outputting it in a way so that the gpu can process it

I don't have a lot of these settings, and the ones I can't use half of them until I turn off force smooth video playback and I get the colour options, I must say the colours are a lot better and not as dull.

you wont get many since you're on a lower end GPU.

its a hidden option thats usually on by default. either Erocker made it visible with a third party tool or regedit, or its just visible in the 10.4a drivers for some reason.

Another weird thing is that, the ATi settings don't have any impact on WMP. Only when i play videos in VLC, MPC-HC do i get the nice colors. It's as if i'm playing the video with default settings in WMP.

I'm interested in mosquito removal and denoise but my card doesn't support it, I suppose there's no trick to it eh?

I prefer color accuracy, smoothness and superior scaling algorithm found in madvr http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146228 than the rest of catalyst features though.
