GeForce GTS 450 to Sport New GPU, 128-bit Memory Interface
After an industry-wide launch of the GeForce GTX 460 768M and GTX 460 1G, NVIDIA's next product launch is increasingly looking like a mainstream SKU, which will be based on a newer GPU. The GF106 graphics processor will push NVIDIA deeper into the mainstream market segment, where it will be competing for graphics cards in the sub-$150 range. One of the first SKUs is the GeForce GTS 450.
The GeForce GTS 450 GPU will have 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface, according to sources close to DonanimHaber. There won't be a reference NVIDIA board as such, and board partners will be given full lease to design their own PCBs and coolers. The GeForce GTS 450 is expected to be released to the market by the end of August, 2010. Source: DonanimHaber |

Nice to see nV gain some momentum.
Now hopefully it'll make ATi finally give us those darn price-cuts we're all waiting for!! ![]() And ATi, you suck for not having the fastest GPU, so give us a 5890!! ![]() (I hope that provokes them ATi brainiacks enough into giving us MOAR!)

But I hope this means that in the mainstream market the new Nvidia GTS 450 forces the ATI 5770 prices to lower somewhat. |

It'll be interesting if This boy can match the HD 5770 performance wise(according to the price).
Hopefully it'll bring the price of 5770 down a little bit. Nvidia also needs to bridge the gap of lower mainstream by their 106 chips like GTS/GT 440/430 to deal with the HD 5750/5670.........hmmm im waiting.

I'm talking about the 5870 which is walloped by the 480. Unfortunately for the 480, extra performance is all it has to offer; I'd love to openly discuss the temps/power, but fear causing heart attacks, strokes and mass hysteria with those that read.

nice to see nvidia release the reigns a bit. AIb partners used to have free reign of the card design it'll be nice to see what they cna come up with on their own without nvidia dictating how it should be.

Hopefully it'll be a good card, just for the competition's sake. I'd like to just see how it fares against the 5770. Bout damn time I gave my 9800gt some deserved rest, now the winner for me will surely be the first to offer the best performance for ~$200. |

Not exactly. It's still a single card. It might be unfair to put them side to side, but it's still the leader of the pack atm.

So besides a -10 from a 460, the X becomes an S too. Upcoming low-range DX11 cards then would lose the S...Good work with the naming Nvidia. Not.

Excellent! This seems promising as a potential replacement down the line for those fleets of inexpensive G92 Folding@home cards.

NVIDIA is constantly building the most massive GPU you can imagine while AMD is following the "many smaller GPU's on same PCB". This brings some probems with profiles, but it's just cheaper to build to get nearly the same result. So why bothering with one massive troublesome GPU if you can make two smaller ones, stick them together on one PCB and voila. And that's how it is. I'm sure they are aware about when one or another design makes sense.

this is probably going to be aimed at competing with the 5770

The 5790 having two GPUs is not ideal, but its advertised as one card and is still a formidable solution and has kept Nvidia at bay. Until NVidia slap two GTX 480s on one PCB, ATI have the crown. I think you are being hard in respect to the 5870 it does not get "walloped", yes the GTX 480 is faster but only slightly. On most reviews including W1zzard's review only a few frames per second that separates the two i.e. 1-10 FPS which equates to 10% separation between the GTX 480 and 5870 on average at both high and low resolutions. So as far as I’m concerned they are practically on par. Also considering that the 5870 is over $100 cheaper and consumes less power its still the better choice. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/N..._Fermi/32.html. |

Sort of... ATI definitely won the DX11 Intro game. The dual GPU will be two GF104's for 768SP no idea when they might be releasing something like that though. GF100 most likely will not make to a single PCB due to massive heat issues. |

It'd be hard to call it a rebadged G92-based card when its GPU is the new GF106.

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought the 5770 outperformed the 5830?

No, the 5770 definitely does not outperform the 5830. People didn't like the 5830 when it was released b/c it was supposed to bridge the huge gap b/t the 5770 and the 5850, and was priced exactly in the middle but it performed much closer to the 5770 side of things. But pure performance wise, it is definitely more powerful than the 5770 and now that they are priced at $200 (and can be found for $180 frequently), it's not a bad buy.
