Final Fantasy XIV high requirements
Well, i am afraid that this is going to be another Metro 2033 or Crysis..
very demanding system requirements. i7 is on the recommended CPU. why is that? are these developers gone crazy like the developers for Metro 2033 and Crysis games? why they release demanding games???? i think there is a conspiracy behind all of these. and it would be the bribe that ATI or Nvidia give to them in order to increase the requirements to force upgrades.... what do u think???? |

Run the benchmark. If you find it too choppy for your taste, then upgrade. I for one dont find it graphically superior like Crysis or 2033.. not much shader effects etc. Looks like plain old console mesh and effects.

Yup, run the benchmark tool. What is your system specs?
Im sure most mid-high end systems can run the game at a decent level. |

What's your specs OP?
Game developers should be praised for pushing technology to create new boundaries in games. If no-one did it we'd be in the spectrum era. Is this the one game you really wanted or something? |

There's a big difference between pushing technology and bad coding. I don't know which one it is in this case, but I'm a cynic, so...
On a side note, I downloaded the benchmark and it didn't even run on my little POS.

Lol. Benchmark seems okay to me. (although generally Square Enix games are good) Doesn't give you an idea of the game though. It was like the Dark VOid benchmark which was absolute tosh, but I got the game for testing and it was actually good. |

you sound alot like that guy who went around making bash threads about companies because he thought their was some kind of black magic they put in the graphics cards that made you buy them. I for one love and i mean LOVE progress. and i dont mean that in the personal sense. While i do enjoy needing a reason to upgrade I kinda like the fact that game devs have pushed us beyond the 7600GS.

Yeah man, these threads are ridiculous. Either don't play the game or upgrade the hardware if your's can't handle it.

Lol!! There was a similar thread not long ago in which the original poster complained about the high requirements of some games, wishing death to their developers; that forum member was banned. I have the feeling that this could be the same person with a different name.

i just used fraps and my fps was mostly at 40 or 44fps. during fighting mostly at 35 or 38 fps and the very minimum was about 25 or 26fps.
very playable to me at high. i dont see how this game is demanding now. some people say only cards like 480 or 5970 can max this game out. but how come??? |

2500 at hi res is quite good, i believe. with my rig i get about 2600 at low res. both scores mean that the game MAY run well, but the funny thing is that with fraps running on the test i never dipped below 35 fps, and usually stayed about 60 fps. i am looking forward to the game, as i played final fantasy XI for 4 years, longest i have played a mmo game. more to the point i love it when the games progress, needing better hardware to run them. when i cant max out everything it gives me a reason to upgrade. if i wanted to stay stagnant, i would own a ps3 or an xbox.

but 25fps was the minimum fps, not average. average is mostly at 35 or 38fps.
i just saw a one time dip to 25fps . |

Samdbugman: i think using fraps is better. points dont say anything. i believe fraps.
Mussels: well, i dont mind dipping to 25fps sometimes .believe ir or not, i played and finished Metro 2033 on Very high at dx10 at 1600*1200 res with this card. . and that was with physix on.so im not picky about performance. i can cope with it. as long as the game doesnt feel like crawling or very sluggish, i am fine with it. |
