Roccat Greets Gamescom with Taito Kingsize MTW Edition Mousepad

To welcome this year's Gamescom event held in Cologne, Germany; Hamburg-based gaming peripherals vendor Roccat announced the Taito Kingsize mTw Edition mousepad. As the name goes, this mousepad measures 455 x 370 mm, with a thickness of 3.45 mm. The reverse side is rubberized for a proper grip with the surface, while the surface uses a heat-treated nano-textile pattern that the company claims to increase mouse gliding performance along both axes. A large mTw logo decks up the surface. The new mousepad will reach stores by the end of this month, priced at 24.99 EUR.

Really, really good pad. It's also really cheap (for it's size and superb quality) and I've been using it for about a year now without any regret.

I don't know too much about mice, but I noticed that optic (and maybe laser too) mice have a problem tracking on surfaces with red tonnes in them.
Would the blue in a mousepad like this mess with tracking in the M$ Sidewinder X8 which uses BlueTrack Technology?
N00bish question, but I thought worth asking for the sake of it... :P

So why the huge size? Did I miss something?
I got nothing against it being so big, just thought I'd chuck a n00b question in aswell!

I like the idea, a couple of months back I bought a pair of Sphex mousepads off Ebay to cover the area under my mouse, and my keyboard. It is a thin pad, and doesn't pad much, but it still is easier on my wrist when I relax my hands off the keyboard.

No. That's the short answer. Although I can't guarantee that it won't as I haven't heard much about the BlueTrack tech and how it responds to various colours/mousepads.

Gaming mousepads have been huge since.. like they were invented.

Well thanks for the attempt, but 'No... I don't know' doesn't really tell me much.
Anybody know the details of "BlueTrack" and how it would react with something like this?
I've seen a number of these blue-designed pads and have been wondering, I mean it's no use spending cash on it just to find the mouse being finicky afterward.

Well just because the technology is called BlueTrack doesn't mean it's not gonna work on Blue, that's just a stupid assumption.

Don't say that, you evidently don't understand how light works. Also, given that the product is called BlueTrack, this surely makes reference to the fact that it tracks the movement of the mouse using a blue laser. How does it track the movement? By shining a light (laser) on the mousepad and reading the light that reflects back and the pattern it reflects back in. This is similar to the way your eyes work. Try shining a white light on a black surface and then on a white surface and see which is more easy to discern.

So no, he was not being stupid at all. That's very rude.
