Setup a new account to test if you can boot into windows normally in safe mode or scan for gremlins in safe mode!

You could then attempt a repair with your original xp disk if that doesn't help!

Note: The lsass.exe file is located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. In other cases, lsass.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm! Check this with Security Task Manager.

I would suggest making a new user account, see if that will allow you to log in!

If you can, then put your xp disk in and go to start - run and type sfc /scannow

That may repair that file!

Yeah, you need the disk that it was installed with!

Have you been into msconfig recently? Im wondering if you may have disabled a startup function of xp!

They gave you a key for free?

Do you not mean they just authorised the key that he used to install with?

You can still run sfc /scannow but if it throws up that it needs the original disk you will need that!

I take it its running with a new account though?

Did it find any gremlins?
