this would be one of them

low profile 5750, but I couldhave sworn someone was making a low profile 5770 too, a 5770 will be the best you can get in a low profile card for sure.

Do you know of anything more capable coming in the near future? No chance of a Low-Profile GTX460?

at a guess you might find a low profile GTS450 in the future, but realistically the GTX460 is too big a core+circutry IMO to fit onto a low profile card, unless it were as long as say a GTX480.

you might want to wait till ATi's 6000 series, a guess would have it that a 6750/6770 or something alike would make it to low profile and have more power than the 5750/5770.

You're right, thanks! and also the upcoming move to 28nm technology (most probably after the 6xxx series) will even further facilitate making lower-profile GPUs.

honestly I'm already over the moon that you can get 8800 class GPU's in low profile format, hec a 5770 should be faster in just about any scenario than an 8800GTX.

to me thats already completely awesome, think of the super slim gaming rig you could make and bolt onto the back of a monitor...

This is the Lian Li PC-C39 case that I'm considering for my friend's HTPC's build:

and to think of the calibre of system you could put in that now if you wanted to, 5770, core i3/i5/i7, super fast DDR3, its amazing isnt it.

Having an ATX power supply paves the way, you are only limited by the height, which is a nice challenge!

jigsaw + four 1 3/4" long flat-cut dowels + custom-cut plexiglass (smoke black) + epoxy/glue.

= a nice monitor stance, not much height added, a slot in the case to fit a high-profile card, and bragging rights.

lol

I did that once to a dell for a friend.

SPARKLE SXS2501024D3L-NM GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-b...

GTS 250 is twice as fast than a 5570 (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/P...D_5570/29.html)

If you can mod and aren't using the rest of the PCIe slots, you can get a PCIe riser (90 degree) and mount a regular video card sideways.

5570 is minimum considering HD playback quality.
But either of Powercolor's low profile 5750s or 5770s mentioned earlier would be my choice. I see those Powercolor LPs are not available yet, though.
