LOL XBOX 360 16GB USB flash drive @ £44.99

Decisions, decisions.........what do you do?

Buy the officially licensed SanDisk 16GB USB Flash Drive for £44.99 (with 1 month of LIVE GOLD)

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/150031...t:Flash+Drives

OR

Go for the standard SanDisk 16GB USB Flash Drive for £17.99

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/130706...e/Product.html

Why do MS think people are so stupid?

Sadly, they don't think, they know. People will buy it.

To be fair the xbox branded one is overpriced but i bet that it performs better than the 16 dollar one.
I got a cheap 8 gig a wile ago for work use and it don't work on the xbox because of fault tolerance or error count or something like that yet the drive tests fine on pc.

Most flash drives are cheap its about 1gb to £1 ratio in the UK maybe you end up paying like £1 more.

They treat us like idiots i mean seriously all their propitiatory gear is overpriced, everything!

its quite likely to be the exact same drive.

they trap people exactly as they got you right there - its more expensive, so it MUST be better... right?

and then they let you talk yourself into it, instead of lying on the box and doing it for you. (its how mac advertisements work :P)

Are you kidding? My PLAY.COM branded 8GB USB pendrive works great with the 360. I can even install a game on it and run it smoothly from it

Question:

Doesn't the 360 have a HDD? What purpose does the USB drive have? File transfers to the hdd I'm guessing?

OT: Sorry but does an xbox play MKV? (would google but while I'm here....)

Yeah, they come in 20GB, 60GB, 120GB and 250GB flavours . Using a USB pendrive as a storage device is handy if you want to use your gamertag on a friends console and data transfer (but tbh, I use a data migration kit lol)

The 360 doesnt support MKV Im afraid. But it does support XvidHD

Yep, shame on the retailers for ripping off the consumer and shame on the consumer for being an idiot in the first place

I don't have an xbox 360, but I'm wondering if the official expensive xbox version is "required" due to some DRM lock-in?

Nope. All you get extra with the expensive XBOX branded stick is nice casing. Its a total con. Im usng a generic PLAY.COM branded 8GB flash drive and it works perfect. I created an account on it, installed Halo Reach to it and completed the game, so I think thats a good enough test lol

Hm sounds like somebody's doing some fishy work there *cough cough* I definitely did NOT do that. And even if i DID do that, I would ONLY do it if I had already preordered and paid for the game.

... I mean after all technically i already own it, so what would be the problem downloading and burning it for a little pre-release action right?

Point is though, I definitely did NOT do something so terrible and illegal.

its a perk of having friends that work in certain video game retailers

But yeah, youve paid for it already, so whats the harm

PS: what did you think of it? I thought it was good, but not as good as Halo 3

Yeah, but you can use certain model 2.5" drives with the 360. And this is about USB drives and you can use any USB drive you want. Anyone who buys the Xbox branded one is an idiot. And they come with hard-drives anyway, not to mention 250GB is overkill.

that just entirely has nothing to do with it - particularly as it is untrue.

250GB is not overkill. The DLC and game installations soon mount up. Im forever having to delete stuff off my 120GB.

I dont like how youve edited my original post to make it look like Im a twat and Im considering purchasing a branded USB drive! I was just showing others the bullshit retailers try to pull.
