DLC now available for Mafia 2

I opened STEAM to see the new Jimmy's Vendetta DLC is out.

I have two more chapters to finish, but this will soon be on my list of things to do. Glad to see so much love this early!

Don't get me wrong I love Mafia II, but it's short. Coming out with DLC this early and charging 10 bucks for it is a slap in the face. I'd love to have the DLC but I'm not buying it. Perhaps they need to fix a couple of key issues first. 1. Free roam mode. 2. Add a bit more content to the story. 3. Some side missions for free roam would be nice. Again, I loved the game, but to me it's not worth the price especially now that this DLC crap is happening so soon. Perhaps $29.99 would of been a better price.

That's the difference between Valve and 2K. 2K seems to be letting me down quite often lately. MLB online, NBA online, and now this. I feel I've been ripped off by them a little too much. I don't like piracy, but I should of just pirated Mafia II as my way of giving them the finger. I, being just a super guy showed a lot of restraint buying it.

Absolutely true i agree 100%, not having free roam in an open world game is retarded, i didn't even read a review (my bad)to see if the game had free roam because it's something Mafia 1 had, now i'm stuck with an open world game with no free roam and the worst thing is that if you google it, there is a way to enable free roam, so i think they will release a free roam DLC and charge $10 for it.

i paid for the deluxe edition (not worth the extra $10)

I am up in the air about buying DLC's at this time cuz I'm very disappointed in what I received at such a premium price.
I also think Mafia 2 is a decent game, But it is missing 2 features that would make it a grrrr8 game even in it's basic form.
One is the proper Free Roam feature.
And two, which is my biggest bitch is the lack of proper FF Wheel support.
Ya I got it working with the help of an internet hack but it's still not great like in Mafia 1.

My 2 cents.

THIS! The DLC was up for download on XBL even before the game was available in the shops! Its a disgrace. For this style of game, it was way too short. Obviously all of this DLC was part of the original game but they removed it to cash in

It kind of reminds me of the BS with Resident Evil 5 (as the MP was already on the disc but you had to pay to unlock it!)

Mafia (1) was one of my Top 3 games. I'm very disappointed to hear Mafia 2 is such a let down. I will wait until it hits the bargain bin before buying. (Actually, that's quite good since I have a lot of work I'm behind on! LOL)

I am kinda pissed about the whole DLC business.

DLC = Downloadable Content
In my mind:
DLC = Dollars Like Compulsory (meaning it is necessary to spend money in order to like the game)

I really did like Mafia I. I saw the trailer for II and it looked good, but I am planning on "demoing" it on a slow weekend, and beating it in one sitting. From what I have heard, it might even be worth downloading!

Mafia 2 is rather short, but so was the original Mafia. Yes, it lacked a free roam feature, but again the original Mafia didn't have this either. This isn't meant to be a GTA style game where you get to do whatever you want. However, there were plenty of times where you could do this if you wanted, even a point where you are told to do this to raise money.

My main gripe with the game is that twice it pretty much takes everything you've earned away from you. There was a point where I had run around robbing shops, stealing cards and either crushing them or selling them at the docks and I had close to $50,000 as well has had every weapon possible with full ammo. Then the next cut scene comes and bam...its all gone!

The game itself is pretty on par with the original though, and IMO worth the $50, even without the downloadable content. It seems like downloadable content has replaced expansion packs these days. As the content adds to the game like an expansion pack, yet isn't required to enjoy the original.

From what I'm reading it appears the DLC simply adds content that should have been included in the original game, given its price: I'll pass until this is on offer.

Not really, it is a different story not really related to the main story.

Sure the story is a bit different, though it isn't much of a story (break out of prison get "revenge") but I agree with Mr McC. This is what the game should of been with Vito after you complete the main story. It's basically "free roam" with icons you walk into to start side missions. 2K is milking this game pure and simple. It's ridiculous and it's obvious that things were cut out of the main game just in order to make a buck with DLC.

This is a small gripe I share with you, although it is done in an interesting way.

I got the game for free, but I purchased a copy of it for a friend because I thought it was worth it. I don't regret paying $50 for it and my friend has been having fun playing it.

Your last point is something that I agree with, traditional expansion packs (for the most part) seem to have been replaced with more expensive, bite sized chunks of DLC. I was excited for the prospect of DLC being able to keep console titles as fresh and interesting as possible, but I never wanted it to outright replace an expansion.

+1, this DLC would not have been included in the main game, since it's not told from the perspective of Vito. I'm still not quite sure if it's worth the ten bucks though, but I haven't played it yet.

Overall, my opinion of the game is that it is worth the price I paid for it (the $50 I spent on my friends' copy). The graphics are amazing, the story is great and the characters are very interesting. I'm on Chapter 14 at the moment and I have enjoyed the game a lot. Yeah, it may be short and it may lack the complete free roam experience, but it's not designed to be that way.

This, im getting pissed off with buying 3/4 of a game all the time

Im all for significant dlc such as half life episodes, or the battlefield 2 expansions, but most dlc is just stuff cut from the full game nowadays

The real pisstake is that companies keep bringing enough dlc packs out that to get them all costs the same amount as the game did originally to buy (hi fallout 3)

Mafia 1 has free roam (free ride), right from the start (not with all the cars available)

I really liked Mafia II, I finished it twice in a week, but €10 for a DLC that is probably really short is too much. Make it free, or at least half the price. The game is full price and only has the 10 hour story, nothing else. Not only is asking for money for the DLC a slap in the face, asking for €10 is an extra kick in the balls.

im digging the dlc, so far I have all of them. the war pack, renegade, made man, vegas, greaser and jimmy's vendetta. I also found a mod that will alow free ride and 3rd tune up option.

So far this is one of my top 5 games. Still have a few wanted posters to find on the story mode before I get all achievements for the story mode. And a crap load of stuff to do on vendetta.
