It is as successful as go-faster stripes and "ruby"-like-cartoon-girls and dragons on the GPUs. Apparently, it sells!

Thanks for the link!

ooof. Not for Mafia 2 with AAx16 in full HD then. Thanks for the warning. But I'm sure it is quite fine in many other games, or a bit better in Mafia 2 if AA is dialled down, or a lower resolution is used. But I do agree, with a GTX450 it will really stretch things!

Nonetheless, there are people that buy plastic wheels for driving games, and there will be people that will give 3D glasses a go. Hell, I would if they were a bit cheaper.

and incidentally better than even the $110 projection of the GTS450 price.

If they can get the price down to $110 for the 450, then introduce a fully unlocked GTS455 at $130, that will be grand.

EDIT: for kicks I'll throw in some GTX470 numbers per core too, cheapest I saw on newegg was $270.

$270 (current) / 448 cores = $0.60 per core - not bad!
Thanks. I was looking at the wrong card. Doesn't matter though as the F@H project right now will not use more than 256 cores for 1 folding project which is limited by the software so cards with more cores get their folding capabilities nurfed. It is the main reason i think ATI cards fold so badly as their architecture use larger numbers of simple cores instead of Nvidia lower number, but complex cores.

Well i don't plan on building a folding rig anytime soon and I will just ask Buck and Bogmali when it is the best bang for your buck in folding at that time.

by the time you want a folding card F@H might just use more Sp's, considering the leaps and bounds they are going in, if not it might be worth something sub 256 cores like the GTS450 that has highly overclockable shaders. cos pretty much if you cant use more than 256, up to 256 clocked as fast as possible would be the go I think.
