Recertified: PNY XLR8 RVCGGTX465XXB GeForce GTX 46...

Picked this one up from newegg.com for 180~ i've heard PNY and POV can be unlocked is this true and if so how?

If the main board portion is black, I heard that they can, if its blue, then no.

If the card you get is exactly like the one on the pictures, maybe. It looks like all 10 memory chips are soldered.

Yeah if its the black PCB, and the transistors and what not are there on the underside of the PCB along with the 10 mem chips its a BIOS flash away from a GTX470. Just have to see what card you get

So.. if it doesn't unlock wanna buy it? I figured I'd take my chances. I was going to pick up another GTX 460 for folding, but since this came along for a 460's price, might as well. Plus, it has rear exhaust which is a feature I want. Fingers crossed!

IF the board as stated has been "recertified" IE: its been back in the hands of the PNY creepers they have physically disabled (by changing out a prom on the board) any way to unlock and re BIOS it to a 470 -

this comes from experience as we were thinking the same thing, ordered one and found it actually bricked the board - So a voice inquiry was made to PNY and they finally caughed up that anytime these boards end up back in thier hands they physically lock out the ability to mod it to a 470-

You best bet is to find one on a local craigslist board or the such - as anything coming back from PNY as stated will be and always will be - just a 465.

Yes sir! Now I need Buck Nasty to invade my computer once again and get folding setup on it... $180 bucks for a 470 is awesome. Tested it a 700mhz GPU in furmark (lots of fan) and not a hiccup!
