The frozr looks like a new design, may have taken MSI a while longer than expected to get it to perform as they desired with the thermal envelope of fermi. Or they could be just releasing products sequentially to keep sales strong.

It really is mind boggling.. they prioritize aftermarket cooling on lower ends and cooler cards, but launch those that need it most (GTX480) too late. Now say that they launch this together or at least a week later on gtx480 debut, they would definitely sell a plenty.

Most people do not shell out $500 for a new gpu. ATI did a study while back (I believe the numbers hold true for nV as well) that gpus in the $100-$150 range are always the biggest sellers and completely dwarf the ultra high end cards in sales numbers.

That, and if you can afford a $600 card, you can likely afford aftermarket cooling for it anyway.
