System Specs

5870 v1

Is there anything inherently wrong with the ATi 5870 V1 cards.

I have had this card for about a year now, and tonight was the first time I had video tearing + BSOD after playing Dead Space for a few hours.

Currently, nothing is overclocked on my system.

Check your temps and enable vsync (or triple buff) to fix the tearing. I'm not aware of anything that is inherently wrong with the revision 1 5870s but someone with more knowledge may need to address that question.

maybe tearing isn't the correct term then..... i was getting random geometries rendered.

So i exited, went into the CCC and cranked the fan.... then she BSOD-ed shortly after.

My solution process would be:
1) Make sure you're using the most up to date drivers.
2) Check temperatures and clean out the heatsink shroud if necessary. (Though you really should be doing this once a month or so if you're a frequent gamer.)
3) Underclock your graphics card memory about 30Mhz or so.

Recheck after each step to see if the problem is solved. If you have to perform step 3 you might want to consider RMAing your card if it's still under warranty.

Ram problem than
I think
a)Ram on card went wrong
b)Rams are overheating ,did you clean fan until now?Dust may filled area between fan and heatsink

Cleaning fan may help but sometimes manufacturers put a sticker to screw to stop people removing shroud and fan from pcb and invalidate warranty if you do .If theri is sticker send to RMA .

the heatsink the card was far from dirty.

I know just manually set the fan to 50% speed before I game. Seem to correct the problem. I guess I may invest in a Cool It systems video cooler.
