Makes me wonder why there aren't more PSU's utilizing heatpipes to optimize heat transfer and decrease noise this way.

Not only is it long, but it looks like they've put the fan in a non-standard place too. Most PSUs that I have seen have the 120-135mm fan near the rear (on-off switch) end of the power supply - and cases usually have their vent holes in this area as a result.
![]() Zalman have bunged their fan further down towards the other end of the PSU. Weird. |

And because if its silent heatpipe/block combo. Id like to know the OEM behind this. I love their layout for saying what goes where. I would like for that PCIE cable to be fully shielded/shrink wrapped, makes for a better presentation. Of course having said all that, I would also like it if you could plug any cable into any spot and use it for whatever you need it for. I Think there is a PSU maker who recently done that....cant recall who it is though.

Because of the massive heat sinks in there and the heat pipes.
There is a lot of heat sink inside that thing. Quote:
![]() The reason the fan was moved, is to make room for the giant heat sink and heat pipes, it's odd, but I promise you it works! I for one am super excited, as I have the original version of the ZM850HP, it's almost 2 years old, and still works great, no v-droop, the cables are awesome the gauge on the wiring is the same as on my SILVERSTONE ST1500, and the power cable is flipping thicker than a tree. I really hope their will be a review here! Last edited by [H]@RD5TUFF; Nov 10, 2010 at 05:09 PM. |

I simply can't wait to try it out here in Aus. The original one I have is still awesome (ZM-850HP). Goes strong, reliable, review tested, still has a hell of a lot of expandability I will most realistically never use and is as stable as since the day I purchased it. Can't wait for the full review :-)

Very long indeed! But they look pretty good. To bad it doesn't fit in my Fractal Design R3
