A RAID5 array for my server with 4TB of usable space. It would be too much hassle to return, and with the shipping and restocking fee it wouldn't really be worth it anyway.
Though I might pick a 4th up to keep a hot spare in the machine...

Would I notice a large drop in performance going from 7200rpm to 5900rpm 1 or 2Tb drives? I would just use this drive for storage of media files (no program files).

You shouldn't notice any drop in performance if that is all you are using the drive for.

Yeah storage drives don't need to be 7200.

Yeah I got one on that sale for 69.99 shipped and I will just be using it to store HD Movies/Music and ebooks. I wonder how efficient they really are on power though.

I don't look at the ratings and focus more on the things people are saying about the drives. Unfortunately most people who write reviews on Newegg are not offering enough info to help decide whether the drive is dead on arrival or whether they were born dumb on arrival.

I pay no attention to newegg reviews, for every legit review from someone that knows what they are talking about, there are 50 shit reviews from people that have never even owned the product or don't know shit.
