personally I think the "bland" banner pisses all over the current one then slaps it with a wet fish whilst rogering its mother. Tonnes better.

I like the concept of the folded grid background but there's a lot of aliasing in those lines.

Complex one is nice, but the name does not stand out enough and is obfiscated by the detail in the background.

Not true, depends on what your DPI is set to along with how you made it.
I mean comparatively speaking sure, but...

If I were to nitpick the only thing I might suggest changing is the white background of the posts. I always have to lower brightness while on TPU. If it were made more grey-ish it'd be kinder on my eyes and it'd save me having to work out a good brightness level on the monitor's OSD menu

i have to admit i think he board itself and the posting box could under go a darker tone. if not a few shades. It burns the eyes in dark rooms. and using a 50" TV doesnt help when its your monitor. though honestly its the first site I go to when I need light and am too lazy to turn on a lamp.

@Reventon

Regardless of whether your modded logo is good or not (I think it looks quite nice) I appreciate the fact that you're actually making the effort to try and is why I've thanked you for it.

If more of us actually posted alternative logos, then we'd have a really good brainstorming session on here and perhaps come up with an awesome new logo made from all the best bits.

My drawing/graphics ability is reasonably non-existent so I won't even try, lol.

So here's a call to all you budding graphic artists on here to post some cool logos and get us that New Improved logo for TPU!

Graphic design is not forum signature making.. just sayin

taking renders and appyling filters and messing with brush sets in photoshop does not make you a graphics artist.. Not being an ass just being blunt

i like the images we saw before for the banner, as we know though a simple, dark collored background works well enough. Go for something like that.

I can also agree that a 'low contrast' theme might be a good idea... darken the colors a bit all around.

Graphic arts is not only about which medium is used or your ability to perfect that medium but about how the composition fits in its intended place and how others relate to composiiton.
The work that Rev presented is very well done and is a testament to his vision of what make a good presentation.
If someone is going to impress W1zz with artwork, they are going to have to take the entire composition and its intented use in mind, including the spirit and attitude of TPU, and put it all together into something both pleasing to the eye, easy on the senses and awesome in its scope.

I bought a new case and my little dog insists on chewing the box open to get what's in it. I think he has a good idea of what TPU is all about.

Just a little rambling from yer old Uncle Kreij.

I never said I was a graphic artist. I said I have some experience in graphic design. I am not professionally trained, I am self-taught. None of those pieces were done using renders. They are all stocks.

I understand flow, composition, colors, depth, lighting, etc. I also understand the do's and dont's. I am no calling myself skilled or professional, I'm just saying that I have spent much time doing artistic pieces using a computer as the medium.
