RunCore Readies 1 TB 3.5'' SATA SSD
Flash storage specialist RunCore is readying a new 3.5" SATA solid state drive (SSD) that provides 1 TB of storage. The drive uses two SandForce SF-1200 controllers in internal RAID 0, the internal RAID controller makes use of SATA 6 Gb/s interface with the host, giving the drive transfer speeds of up to 500 MB/s. The two SSD units inside the drive are set to run in RAID 0, which is abstract to the host. The company is yet to finalize a release date or price.

That... looks epic. It's gonna be $10,000,000 though.

Won't degradation be a problem for a big drive like this one?

good point - at least with 3.5" we wouldnt need to buy mounting kits. maybe they were thinking about testing it on the netbook/laptop/notebook market first

OCZ has their 1TB "Colossus" 3.5" SSD listed for $3,050. I'm not sure if that one uses SandForce controllers or not. Hopefully it won't cost any more than the Colossus.

As I recall those ocz drives had issues, but couldn't be firmware updated. Kinda a risky move to release a product like that. Hopefully this can be updated. Also the ocz drives were sata 3, couldn't make use of the raid speed.

The bigger the drive, the less problems it has with degradation. Unless you'll have it almost full all the time. But with such big drives it's less likely to have them filled as fast as idon't know, 128GB versions.

I wouldn't store any valuable data on an SSD.
And I wonder, how many games can be installed on a 1TB |

Personally I think more than a 500GB drive is a waste. 100GB for the OS and apps, and 400 for games and other apps. If you want to back-up movies, music, pr0n and install kits, use a 2TB HDD. Plenty out there! But I want a 500GB SSD with 500MB/s Up/Down!!!!

I'd rather have this in a 250GB model for cheaper, and us it as a boot drive. I don't need 1TB for that.

As impressed as I am, I don't see much need for it (yet). And, though higher capacity => (eventually) lower mainstream prices, 1TB SSD atm will cost an arm, leg, and probably a kidney. I'd rather they find a way to fix wear-leveling so it would last as long as (or close enough to) a HDD.
-would rather have a faster/reasonably priced/200-300GB SSD for OS/GAMES-

They should sell it in 250 and 500gb versions in both 2.5 and 3.5 sizes, so you can buy the single board versions and later on add a second board for internal raid.
