We all like TPU. Otherwise we'd be somewhere else.
How are we doing as moderators !?!?!?
You can call us out by name if you want. That is what this thread is for.
No one will get headshots for being honest (as long as you don't resort to personal insults or name calling).

That's my way of saying there is no real problem with the way things are done imo... it's kinda tuff to say the Mods are doing a good job without looking like a brown nosing clowns shoe but, seriously yall keep it clean and a nice site to be a regular on... *goes through your modem and gives you hugs*

Why is it that when you want a straight answer the mods are the worst offenders?
( I am guilty of that too.)

Okay, here are a few questions for you all to chew on ...
1) Do you think the coverage of the board is sufficient and that we do a good job of spam removal?
2) Do you feel that the moderators are basically impartial in their actions and that infractions are in line with the reason for giving them (If you've gotten any)?
3) If you were a moderator, would you do anything differently?

We just got over a foot of snow, we have 35 mph winds and it''s going to be -10F tonight.
I'm just trying to get an idea of what you all think, and I won't be going outside anytime soon.

Well, they don't legally recognize that type of marriage where erocker is, so it's a bit of a misnomer.

That never would have occurred to me but I can see how some posters might see it that way.

A good way to think about it from the mods perspective is, if no one says anything then it must be "acceptable" (or better?). People are always faster to point out when something is wrong than when something is right. Surely the glass is half-fu**ed.

1) I've never had to use the "Report Post" button.
2) The mods actions are rarely transparent to me, but of the few things I've seen it was fast, decisive and reasonable. If there was a problem I'd either stop posting or PM the mods.
3) I'd probably curse a bit more. Who am I kidding? A lot ****ing more.

Just don't get complacent because you're doing a good job.

My suggestion, which I believe will greatly improve the service these forums provide, would be to keep the ignorant from replying or giving advice until they prove their knowledge either by submitting their certifications and experience on an application to become a TPU support agent, or by kudo/thanks ranking on public discussion forums.

You can keep the TPU support and open-to-public forums separated quite easily. That is how we do it on most of the other sites I belong to as staff, admin, support, or moderator.

That system both keeps people that come to the site for support extremely happy, and it keeps the people that come for support from getting bad advice that could potentially result in a very bad way if they take and use the advice given by just some John Doe/Joe Schmoe.

Disclaimers on the open forums can prevent someone that used false advice from someone that doesn't know what they're talking about from coming after TPU for their damages, losses, etc.

This site is huge. It might be a good idea to put something like that in place to enhance it. And make it truly one of the best support sites that exist.

I also have a complaint about moderators not doing their job appropriately. Those moderators need to have their privileges removed if they abuse or don't use them fairly.
After all...what they do ultimately comes down on you/TPU.

You serious?!

This is a site run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. People come here to learn and help each other. We were all "ignorant" in the beginning. Doing tech stuff and sharing experiences here are what makes people great at what they do. Some are hopeless and will never learn. So what? Get over it.

If you want a site with these sorts of entry qualifications, go to a commercial site like Microsoft TechNet or something. Hey, even there they allow us worthless proles to give advice.

And so you have some nebulous "complaint" about the mods... jeez. Go on, spit it out. Which moderator said what that upset you so much? And I give up even replying to the stuff you said inbetween.

Or is your whole post just a troll???

You have to keep all knowledge and all topics available to all. It's simple. How are we all to learn? I was a dumb newbie when I started here. We all are.

@ Arel3

My rebuttal to you;

I do not have ANY certifications at all but yet how many people have I helped in the past. I will admit 20% of my "thanks", along with 15% of my posts are like this one, is oddball off-the-wall banter. That is besides the point, point being is as said before "enthusiasts for enthusiasts". If we all were looking for "true" technical support there should/would be a ticket submitted to the manufacturer.

You may see this post as an argument, but I am far from arguing/flaming/pointing at you. Thanks for your time.

you are basically suggesting TPU no longer be TPU. this is an open community where people help when they choose to. sometimes people are wrong. i think if you have a big problem with the way TPU is fundamentally then you should stick to other forums.

All information (threads) will be available to all members. That is what TPU is about.
Sharing information and knowledge.
It's up to the person asking for assistance to question any advice they feel may not be right.
No elite people here ... just all us geeks and geekettes trying to attain world peace through overclocking and coding.

If anyone has an issue with any of the staff, this is the place to air your grievance.
W1zz made this thread specifically for that purpose. Just keep it out of the other threads or you will run into problems.
(This is just a general statement and I am not targetting anyone in particular. All drama comes here, please.)

@Easy Rhino : In this time of economic downturn, one shot, one kill saves a lot of money on ammo.

So I misunderstood what the purpose of these forums were then, and the purpose of this thread.
Apologies. Wizzard did ask how we thought the forums could be made better. I posted my thoughts, opinion, and suggestion.

I don't gawk myself as if I'm better than anyone else. I've played guitar for over 30 years and gave lessons in my late teens to late 20s. I learned things I never knew and couldn't figure out from my students! Some of my guitar students that taught ME things about a guitar as well as some really cool techniques I really enjoyed were only playing a guitar for a few weeks. I approach giving advice as well as accepting advice the same way. You can learn something from anyone no matter their experience or skill level although experience is a treasure and should be respected.

I only wish some people I've had experiences on here with had that same frame of mind and could put their egos aside when they post.
