Should i buy x2 570 or single 580

Hello everyone. Am about to buy in 1 or 2 days new gpu and am not sure what should i go for. I was 100% sure to get x2 570 but now am thinking to get a single 580 and maybe upgrade later on when they get a little cheaper. What do you think? For x2 570 in order to upgrade to x3 ill need 3 monitors aswell so thats not very ideal. But if i have single 580 and get later a second one i think that could be a nice upgrade for 1920x1080 res.

why would having 2-3 570 mean you would need 3 monitors, moniters shouldnt affect sli

Or if you mean you will be having 3 monitors then that won't be a problem you should be able to plug 2 in one card and 1 in the other.

i mean to get a real use of x3 570 it would be ideal to get bigger resolution than 1920x1080. Isnt this correct?

at this moment of time that is correct but future games may make use of that power

since your motherboard has tri sli just go with what's best for you now and by the time you will need more then 3 cards it will be better to just by new cards

I think you should start with a single 570. It will be a large performance boost over your current card. One 570 isn't going to hold your system back.

ummm very large performance difference there, also a 200$ price difference.

2 560's in sli ar more comperable cost wise and still outperform a single gtx580. However that would limit the upgrade path and even W1z says he'd recomend a single 580 over dual 560's due to that upgrade path.

now dual 570's should be significantly faster than a gtx580, however the price/performance ratio is likely identical.

upgrade path wise dual 580's scale better than triple 570's and have less heat, power, and space requirments overall

in the immediacy dual 570's stomp a single 580

if you have the cash go dual 570's you won't regret the performance.

would have to agree - if you can afford dual 570 then go for it if not any single 500 series card should most current games at high - v.high

+1

I bought 2 470's when they dropped and found out that only Metro 2033 lagged at 1920x1200 w/everything maxxed out. Start with a single 570, IF your games lag consider a second.

what am thinking most ist the cash at the moment. for dual 570 it will cost me around 620pounds and for a single 580 around 420. And when the price drops a for 580 i could go for second one. And i can still go for x3 later on. But still for 580 i think x2 are enough though. If i go later for 2nd 580 ill be better than x3 570 and still a little cheaper. Thats what concerns me most:P

dual 470's and the game still lagged?

seems like 2 should have been enough to get the game going.

although the rumor that mmetro is smooth at 30fps could be a farce which would explain it. you'd need dual 480's to get above 60 and even then you'd have to overclock them

dont hesitate, I tested Metro with my rig and ive got just 1 monitor 1920x1080p. Metro sucks everything from my 2 gtx570. Dx11 of course... dude for a 3 monitor configuration i think that 2 gtx570are enough.
no worth to spend 150 more depends on the country, for the gtx580.(what gains hard 10-15fps more)
Sli of gtx570 outperforms in a great way.
taste 1 and and if needed add a second

I would go with a single 580 and add another one at a later date.

I decided to go for a single 580. 200 pounds less for me now. And save them for later on when 580 gets cheaper. Games now dont require more than 580 so ill be ok for now Thank all for your replies though

None of these comments will matter when two 590's come into the picture.

Good choice....no having to wait for SLI profiles to be updated for newer games....full power out of the box......I think you'll love it.....I know I love mine.
