Is it worth upgrading to GTX560 Ti

hello friends,

I have a question and want to know some of your opinions is it worth for me to upgrade a 6870 to GTX560??

I have an Asus 6870 and might thinking to CF in the near future, but also I am interested in GTX560 and going to SLI it too.. but is it worth from to upgrade from 6870 to GTX560??

one more thing is that I am using an ASUS Crosshair 4 formula 890FX, and I search that somebody have tried SLI to this board with SLI patch and working fine, is it true enough that the C4F can be SLI too?

hope I get some positive feedback... thanks yall

Definitely not. The 6870 performs slightly under the GTX 560 but nothing to go crazy about. But, some gains will be present with GTX 560 SLi as they should scale better.

I see the HD6870 and CFX perform exceptionally well, all the while consuming much lesser power. No reason to upgrade

No it isn't worth it at all wouldn't notice hardly any performance difference in games, HD 6950 2GB at stock is much faster than GTX 560 and would provide better performance it has 2GB Memory which if your considering crossfire in the future would benefit you especially at higher resolutions, also with the option to flash to HD 6970 bios the HD 6950 offers much better value.

I have 2 GTX560 TIs in SLI and they are phenomenal!!!

All the problems I had with CF are a thing of the past. Definitely worth the upgrade!!!

Well, it looks like performance-wise they are fairly evenly matched. However, in my experience, I have seen less glitches with nvidia than AMD. Just from seeing the threads on TPU seems to confirm this too.

If you upgrade your card, then go for a GTX 570 or 580 though. I wouldn't spend all that money otherwise just to have a slightly smoother running system with the same performance.

If you can stretch to a GTX 580 however, it will run rings around your current card. Just make sure that your system can meet the demands of a high end card, first.

EDIT: as you have a crossfire setup, you'll have to change your mobo and add two GTX 580s. That's a lot of dough. Save your money.

I think the 5850s were EXTREMLY problematic as people seem to have no real isues with the 6000 series cards. I had 2 5850s and it was nothing but nightmare after nightmare no matter what I tried. And all I wanted to do was run BC2. After 9 months I gave up.... ATI is not for me and I went back to Nvidia but it seems from all the reviews and comments I've read, the 6000 series cards are FAR FAR better than the 5000 series cards. It really comes down to personal preference and the experiences you've had with either brand.

Oh, yes and just remember.... Make sure you do some thorough research as to what brand to go with in relation to your motherboard, CPU and RAM. I have an Asus P6T and although its X58 chipset does support Crossfire, I only see a few mentions of it in the manual and the box whereas I see SLI mentioned much more.... Strange but it gives me the impression that the X58 chipset *prefers* SLI..... All I know is SLI works better for my wetup

Good luck

Why wait?
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...lypreview.aspx

I've been running Catalyst 11.4 for a month now & i love it!
I got the "early" 11.4 Preview from the 8th march , i think it's time i update to the "new" 11.4 from the 29th march

the 6 series scales very well in xfire...

that's a 100% performance increase right there... and i believe that was with 11.2.. with 11.4 it'd probably be a little bit more of a performance increase

I don't think it's worth it. HD6870's will beat GTX 560 TI's when used in SLI/Crossfire. Although the GTX 560's are little faster then the 6870's in single mode.

If you want to upgrade I would go for a couple of HD6950 1gb's or two GTX 570's. The GTX 560's aren't worth it.
But if you went the HD6950 route those cards will beat the GTX 560's and by a noticeable margin. It will also beat your HD6870's by a noticeable bit too.... How Would I know this one might ask???? Well I upgraded from two HD6870's to two HD6950's and it was very nice! I think that would be your best bet unless you are set on going with Nvidia.
