Defrag Software for free ?

Ok other than the built in Windows7 64 bit defrager is there any other FREE FULL programs that will do a better job at defragging my HDD's ?
I need it to be free as I have no money at all to pay for one and do not want any trial versions at all . Please list what you use and tell me why and post links as well .

The biggest advantage that 3rd party defraggers usually have is that they not only defrag the files, but they also re-arrange them to attemt to optimize access. UD freeware v1( might have to run it as administrator ) is good but it's no were near what the payware v3 is.

Crap, I didn't realize O&O had a free version as well. I prefer O&O actually over UltimatDefrag, I use the professional version on all my computers. I like that last bullet in their list of difference between the Pro and Free version. "Made in Germany"

Yeah I read that just a bit ago .
Now the main question is just how to set up this free version for optimal performance ! There are tons of settings and I am running it now .

Auslogics. We use the portable version of it here in the shop, has almost all the feature of the install version. It will even run a check disk & bad sector scan if ya tell it to while it defrags.

I have tried O&O but I did not like it . I guess because it was on XP not win7 LOL . I am giving this one ( UltimatDefrag ) a shot seems to take a long time though 2+ hours it is telling me . WOW .

I've used a few defrag utilities in the last years but for me the best one is MyDefrag.
Simple to use, no configurations to make, and it seems to do a great job!

TBH with any decent hard drive nowadays along with modern processors and fast memory, either windows built in software or something simple like defraggler is perfectly fine and does the job perfectly well.

All of the 3rd party defraggers that do optimizations will take a really long time the first time they run because they have to move all the files around to optimize their location on the disk. After the first time though, it should only need to move a few files around, so the defrags are much quicker.

You will likely always have fragmented files. Unless you do an offline defragement, there will be files that can't be defragmented. Don't worry about them as long as it is only a few files.

I always just select auto and let it go. Beyond that you aren't going to really notice any difference in performance, so I don't waste the time.
