better than carrying around a desktop. Plus if the desktop gets unplugged, you are out of luck, while if this laptop gets unplugged, you get that 15~20 mins to plug it back in

With the price you would pay for this you could have 3 PC's, and lets get real here, its over kill? And 2 minutes is not much better then a desk top now is it?

Actually you can build a gaming PC and pay someone to carry it for you whenever you go to a LAN party.

The processor ALONE is over 1000$. The whole laptop costs what, 2477$? I'm sorry but that is a good price.

The 20 min battery life of the laptop is infinitely better than that of the desktop

A equivalent desktop would cost alot too. 1000$ CPU, 200$ mobo, 70$ RAM, 50$ slim DVD burner, 60$ HDD, 50+$ PSU, GPU is equivalent to a 6850 so 185$, Small form factor case with adequate cooling 100+$, Screen is at least 100+$. That is at least 1850$, and this isn't even counting the fact that it has no battery backup or probably needs extra custom cooling. That is at least another 150$... So This desktop breaks the 2000$ barrier, while being 10x the size, and unpractical.

I'd pay the 477$ premium for it being practical and not needing to break your back, buy a car, or hire someone to carry it around for you

Not to mention that it doubles as space-heater.

2477$ - u first time in this world? it starts from 2477$ and this means it is i-950, with GTX 460m for those 2477$ so u can only imagine what price will be for i7-990 + GTX 485m, because GTX 485m in europe costs about 800 euro.

The desktop would create just as much heat. The heat wouldn't be consetrated on your hands though.

EDIT: And for travling gamers these things rule. And I mean the ones that travle in their job and are gone for weeks each time, or maybe military personel? Seriously, it's expensive, but for the target audience it's pretty darn awesome.

Actually, you need to bring it down to a i7-930 and GTX 460 to get 2477, and yes for the i7-990x and GTX 485m, it comes to 4100 without any extra options, 4885 for SLI.
I just maxed it out with all the most expensive additional options for 21,850

Desktops have a lot better cooling options and the heat is more easily dispersed. I'd like to see a liquid loop on this. Anyways, I was being serious about using it for a heater as pro lol.

I'm surprised by the price. I was sure that the price would be ~2900USD. So +1 for the price

Battery would be dead before you got to the Windows logon screen.

Unless you have a SSD then you might make it to TPU before that dreadful critical battery warning (YOU NEED A NEW FUCKING POWER SOURCE RIGHT NOW!!)

How does the battery even provide enough current to power this thing at full load? Never mind for any duration.

It's part of the desktop replacement niche (like the Toshiba Qosmio series), so it is not aimed to those who need to bring a laptop around for everyday use.

If anything, the battery would act like a UPS, just for those moments in a LAN competition when some moron trips over the main power strip. (Happened to me twice.)

Actually, that base price doesn't include the 990X or the GTX485. The base price includes a 930 and a GTX460M.

The base price for the 990X and the GTX485M is $4100. Though I think I would go with the 980X and GTX470M if I was configuring it and end up at a slightly more reasoable $3500.
