a little button that reveals whatever acronym you're hovering over.

I like the idea, I'd like some user customisable ones too, as I find myself making new ones like CMIIW (correct me if im wrong) and I'm unsure if people know what I'm on about.

EDIT: Just googled CMIIW. I'm not as original as I thought

Would help troubleshooting new members rigs. Being able to use acronyms without worrying whether they know what PSU means.

lolwtfbbq.

How about acronyms with multiple meanings then, FPS can be Frames Per Second or First-Person Shooter for example? Would it show more than one meaning, and then decide within the context of the sentence which is which maybe?

or limit to FPS on a tech forum is more likely to mean frames per second that first person shooter...
this would be nice for simple stuff like FB-DIMM and shit like that that people dont normally deal with.

I think FPS would be easy enough to have both acronyms come up when you hover over. I know TPU doesn't concentrate on gaming, but it's still advertised as a gaming site when googled.

Might be a good idea for tech-related acronyms like CPU, PSU, AX2, FPS, PII (which is apparently what cdawall suggested)........ but not for lol, bbq, stfu etc etc....

I admit the first time I read the acronym PII I was all like what the hell has this guy bought a Pentium 2 for

I like the idea and think maybe W1zzard should give it some thought.

When I first started coming here and lurking through a lot of different threads I was very confused by a lot of strange acronyms. To give you an example, I was shocked by some of the members using FTW often. Took a while for me to figure out it meant "For The Win". Well, when I was growing up, it had a totally different meaning, let me tell you.

Aah, I was talking about ones like GHz, DDR, TFT, GB.
These are perfect for the idea, as they are acronymed when you see them elsewhere in the world; on product boxes etc. We would never write GigaHertz or Double Data Rate unless we were asked what it means.

I think ones like CMIIW and AFAIK I think are ok, they're not overused. Once or twice per page at the most I'd guess
