Did anyone else receive an email about the EA sports litigation?

I got an email today about joining the class action lawsuit against EA. some folks seem to think that their contract with the NFL is anti-competitive and allows them to overcharge for the madden, ncaa and afl series. just curious to know who else got one.

No I haven't but I own madden games from madden 97 through 2011.

My favorite NFL game was always GameDay till EA won the contract.

I don't see how this could win though considering the NFL only lic. their name to whomever they choose. I would think it's their decision who runs with their name.

The email says that to be a part of the class action you must have purchased one of those games between 2005 and the present. I have only purchased 1 of them. I really don't see EA losing.

NFL2K5 was light years ahead of Madden (and was only $19 MSRP @ release). I always thought the exclusive agreement between EA and the NFL was a bad move. I have not purchased any releases of Madden since.

I gave up on EA sports related titles after they stopped making NHL for the PC. 09 was the last PC version, while 10 & 11 got the new game engine on the consoles

I got an email from them as well. I could care less, the lawsuit is about the exclusivity suit driving up the price of NFL based games, which I believe are still the same price as every other game.

EA won't lose.

If the class action lawsuit has a leg to stand on, EA will make an OOC settlement and agree to give anyone involved something like a $5 gift certificate to buy EA products.

2K was releasing their NFL games well below what EA was charging. EA did not like that one bit. There is really no innovation in Madden, you could pretty much roll with an old version with roster updates and you would have essentially the same game. I mean even CoD reskins, sports games @ full price are one of the biggest rip offs in gaming.

Yup, there's nothing like lip service to the little people.

Their "punishment" would actually result in more money going into their coffers by having customers pay the difference to get another game.

I don't think it matters. I mean, class action lawsuits take years, and what would one person get from this, 12 cents?
