ATI R600 Delayed till March?

The first AMD/ATI graphics chip is about to be delayed again because of serious problems. The last revision of the prototype chip - upon which a certain "pre-review" is based - suffers from problems which are serious enough to get another re-spin. This re-spin puts a hold on the launch for another couple of weeks, and now R600 is looking like an early March launch, probably the week before SnowBIT in Hangover. However, AMD/ATI is making severe changes to the whole line up and when the card is finally ready to roll, it promises to shock the 3D industry with performance. Just remember this is not official, it's a "somebody told me" story by theINQ.

I will only believe it if other sites officially report this.
This looks like a sad attempy by theINQ to boost hits

If this is true, then this might not be good for ATI.
I say this bc Nvidia is launching their mid/low range cards around Feb. so they will then prob. counter ATIs top card if it beats theirs.

Just gives Nvidia a chance to mess up again, and make ATI look all that much better when they finally launch new line.

Hopefully all the good DX9 cards should get a lot cheap so all of the people who tend to hang one step behind like me can get an upgrade

TBH, I think I'll wait about a year before changing anything, and then go to dual core and DX10. To start with, for a year at least, I doubt many games will actually take advantage of DX10 or be dual core - by then the prices should be noticably lower so it would make more sence for most people to upgrade then. Admittedly these cards should still perform better than the current DX9 cards in current games anyway.

that's not good for atiamdassociatedalways cuz delays are never good.
even nvidia had the wrong resistor on every single card 2 days before launch, and they fixed it in time for the launch, and it was a hard launch

ati really needs to act grown up. they used to....

No, they had the wrong resistor on only specific batches, for specific oem manufacturers. It was definitely NOT all of them. Specifically the ATI reference boards were perfectly fine.

Can imagine a big smile on NVidia's face right now, more months of profits on 8800 cards without a viable competitor, their mid range cards out prob before ATI's main player and when it does arrive NVidia will probably be just a stones throw away from another "top end" card in any case.

To be fair first aint always best and if you beleive the reports ATi will trump them with their card but NVidia should be at the stage then that they have had sufficient time to fight back with a stronger contender than the 8800GTX, early summer will be an interesting time!

There probably trying to find away to fit phase change in a dual slot cooler
If there going to delay it that much they better launch a whole line with it or NV will kill them with a mid range card out. Even if r600 is all they say it will be not to many can afford it and NV will be on a more mature driver by then with less issues and I'm sure a price drop.
I have been wondering if maybe R600s DX9 performance isn't that great so there holding off till they can show it off in DX10.

Wonderful statement from =-TheEagle-= I have to agree being an ATI fan for years I learned patience is a virtue, and I see no need to rush perfection.
