Metro 2033

Steam has it on sell right now for $10.
I may purchase it after I do some research.

It has its own unique style and gameplay that sets it apart from other shooters, personally, I think it's a fantastic game.

For $10 bucks can't go wrong. It was really addicting.

In my opinion it has the best graphics I've ever seen on a game; many people choose Crysis for the visuals but I think it's because there's no palm trees on Metro 2033.

I hear it is a resource hog too. Which is another reason
I want to get it, for testing. I just built a new computer

Most definitely is. Don't expect super high fps in Dx11 fully cranked. But it's still a great game so buy it!

Great game took me a chapter or two to really get into it. I had to get used to the playstyle but wow. It gets better and better as the story goes on and just looks fantastic on the right hardware.

bad thing is that the game is badly coded so you wont get high fps even with a mid-high end video card, but the game is great

It's worth $10. But it's very linear and don't expect to stay outside long once you get out. If you don't hvae FO or New Vegas buy them much better games.

It'll be tough to find Fallout games on Steam for $10. I'd love to get FO3 GOTY for $10!

It isn't badly coded, every just seems to want to label any game that doesn't get 100FPS with the highest graphics settings as "badly coded". When you crank the graphics settings, the game simply looks amazing, it should be expected that doing so will require some serious horsepower, but this isn't obvious to some for some odd reason. They think that they should be able to have the latest and greatest eye candy, and a game that looks better than everything else on the market, and it should run on a mid-range card...

The game still looks stunning, even when run in DX10, and a GTX460 can handle it at that settings, which is pretty damn impressive for the visuals that are still present even with reduced settings.

It is. The "Very high" setting uses DirectX 10, the "High" setting DirectX 9; there are also two DirectX 11 options available: Depth of field and Tesallation. Then you have AAA and 4xAA, use the first one here.

Man.. This game did have excellent graphics.

But I gotta say I HATED the sounds the guy made in the gas mask. All the slurping and huffing/puffing... I have worn a gas mask and it never sounded like that. Got to the point where I dreaded going outside because I would have to hear those sounds. HATED THEM. I mean is the main character an uncontrollable drooler... I have only heard worse sounds in the dentist office with the suction device. LOL.

Otherwise I enjoyed the game even though it was very short.

Wait, wait, wait. You just built a whole new system, but kept Vista? I never had problems out of Vista when I had it, but it's a bit more of a resource hog than 7.

That the OS I had. I had 7 before and seriously prefer Vista. Yeah call me nuts.

I didn't buy it for testing per say, but for the gameplay. For $10 I figured why not, I love my post-apocalyptic shooters.

There is very little difference between Vista SP2 and Win7. Even in the resource usage department.

That is what I was told too. I can not get this game to work on 10 or 11. I updated to SP2 and reloaded the newest drivers.
Nothing. I did run the benchmark tester. Wow this game does bring a system to it knee's that is for sure even on DX9.
I thought Far Cry 2 was bad , but that was baby stuff compared to this games bench testing.

Got it working and these visuals are awesome. I love this game. I haven't even got past the first run in with the Mutants,
but the graphics alone make it worth far more then $10. Guess if you had a weak system you'd hate it.
