Have I dodged a bullet?
Hey a few minutes ago I was removing a dead sound card from my PC, and I accident hit the mobo button to switch it on and Ive hit my crossfire bridge and a sudden burst of sparks flew out of the CF connector.
I shut down, properly removed the sound card, (unplugged the power as soon as the sparks flew and PC shut itself down), then booted my PC. The PC booted in fine to Win 7 and CCC isn't reporting any CF errors. And I ran a FurMark stability test for a few mins and all seems fine. Is there anything else I can check. Also ran COD4 and it's pulling 400-1000 fps which is normal. Have I just got lucky?

Dodged a bullet indeed. I always unplug the power cord from the PSU every time I open the case. Or turn off the PSU if it has a switch. Don't forget that.

Scary...I find that Furmark is not that great of tester. Do some gaming and see how she feels to see if both cards are working. Hopefully all is well.

Unplugging the power lead when working on your machine is a grey area.
I just switch mine at the wall and the PSU but leave the lead in because"Thats pretty earthed like that" |

Yeah I think it was just sparks made by the sudden unplugging then hitting it back in again.

At least switch off the PSU at the back if you don't want to wrestle with the plug. After switching it off, wait 10 seconds to drain the capacitors before you touch anything.

Why did you have the power cable plugged up and the PSU switch on when working inside the case? always unplug the power cord and turn the PSU off
