Fractal Design Announces Core 1000 Case
The Core 1000 brings many features usually only seen in more expensive and larger cases. It supports long graphics cards up to 350mm due to the innovative, vertical and removable HDD mounting bracket. The front panel’s easily removable and pre-fitted with fan filters to ensure a dust free interior.
The sleek black interior is matched and contrasted with white expansion slots. Similar to the Define Series, all the HDD trays are fitted with anti-vibration silicon grommets for optimal silence. The MSRP of the chassis is to be 34.90 Euro. Key features

I love the way this looks and it's only ~9lbs; perfect for taking to LAN parties. Ugh, I need a job so I can make impulse purchases

Looks like a very basic case to me. No holes for cable management, and problem is even worse when you consider the PSU is mounted on top. If you look carefully at the 2nd picture, it seems that the left screw holding up the "hard disk plate" is not aligned with the hole. Maybe camera angle, but 2 screws hardly inspires confidence (there is another one at the bottom of the case). Also, its a 4 slot mATX case rather than 4+1, so the Gigabyte Z68-UD2H owners who want to do CF/SLi in this case will be sad. Lastly, it says "one 140mm fan included in top", I don't see any holes on the top of the case.

at the comment about the 140mm fan. None of that bothers me though, I would just cut all my own holes that I need and I wouldn't bother with CF/SLI

Hmm, you're right, the information on the product page is different from this article.

I expect this to be priced around the same as an Antec 300. I like this case but not as much as the Arc.

is the design quality that great on these cases? i am assuming that they should be solid. however, you can get a decent basic looking matx tower for around $50.

- 3 vs 5 fan slot - 5 vs 9 drive bays - psu at the top - no top fan aside black interior and anti vibration tray, this case can't match antec 300 for sure.. bitfenix shinobi for $59, i think it still one of best case around mid range.. |

Uhh, this case is supposed to be small rather than have a lot of functions, check Lian Li V35x series.

I highly doubt it'll be cheaper.

I really like how basic and slick this case looks, simplicity always ticks the right boxes for me.

I'm a fan of Fractal Design, but this is rather "meh". There's an oversaturation with cases like this.

Don't like what they've done to the HDD cage. I can understand that they've opened it up for airflow and allowing larger video cards but not allowing for HDD's to be put there if you don't have long cards is somewhat poor judgement.

Love it, maybe better front like someone said, that's just dust grill.
I want AT style box, yes AT I want black and silver colors I want big fan in the front with blue led (no dust grill) All boards are getting MATX more or less, but MATX boxes on the market are usually crap with vertical HDD mounting and custom PSU, like there is not enough room or something. And you know what BTX is it's just turn around AT style that's all, well at lest we are getting there. This one is a lot better... http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=...gory=2&prod=59 In good old days, PCs ware on desk, before they get so big and laud, now you can easily put this box behind LCD monitor, it's simple kill the ATX. One of the best things this has going for it, is its small length.
At only 420mm it will fit under your desk/table without it protruding out the front to much. (this is a bonus in my book). My main gripe is it having a 92mm fan at the back? (how many new case builders do you know who still use 92mm fans?) Having 2x120 intakes, versus only 1x92mm exhaust at the back, doesn’t seem balanced to me. Would much rather they made the case 1cm wider & stuck a 120 fan at the back. (the case I have is 185mm wide compared to this 175mm, but has a nice quiet 120 at the back) I have been looking round for a small footprint (including length) matx case for a while now. The Elite 341 with a length of only 400mm (plus a 120mm at the back) looked ideal but they don't make them any more. Don't forget you can still fit long GPUs in these as long as you take out a section of hard drive cage, which I think is ideal, because then you would have the front fan blowing right on your graphics card. Hello Everyone,
This case will be priced at roughly 34,90 EUR including 20% European VAT and 39,90 USD excluding VAT. It's definitely a mATX case with a height of only 355mm and it is our cheapest case so far, but packed with a lot of features that you don't otherwise see at this price point. If you have something more similar to Antec 300 in size and price, you should take a look at Core 3000. |
