Brink:.
Can't believe there is no thread on this game yet? Hookey where are you?
![]() Anyone play this game yet? I know the reviews aren't so hot, but I don't exactly take those word for word. I want to hear some real unbiased/non-manipulated honest opinions. So.... how is it?

I got it, haven't fired it up yet, too much other stuff on my plate right now.
So consider this my thread subscription.

You know, it largely reminded me of borderlands, but wit ha bit mroe action, from what I have seen, so I bought it.
I won't have time to really play until next week, but that ability to "level" you MP character in SP is a nice treat that will hopefully see me keeping up fairly well with other players, hopefully. Played TONNES of BC2, so this will be a nice departure for FPS-style gaming, methinks. Dunno, will ahve to fire it up and see, but I doubt it. I waas banking on the gameplay part of it, no eye-popping graphics. Videos that are online now seems reminiscent of UT/Doom/quake-type FPS gaming, for sure, but with more realistic firepower.

I'm interested in the game but the FPS market has been saturated a long time. I'm not convinced it is unique enough to warrant buying.

My GF has pre-ordered this for me as it's my 26th this weekend. Hopefully it'll be good, read that IGN gave the 360 version 6 out of 10 though.

It looks good for a dated engine though...

I'm finding it hard to believe that last pic is an Ingame screen shot, the second one to.

Sure but DX11 exists, why aren't they using it yet! Consoles maybe? I think they are at least partly to blame if not entirely.

It seems like a lot of the reasons why it got that poor review rating are issues fundamental to the game (lack of maps, lack of viewing stats, lack of making a choice and sticking to it, lack of real differences between characters, lack of diversity overall). The only thing that gets praise is the SMART system for moving over obstacles. I really didn't care for Borderlands and Brink sounds less refined than it but mostly the same idea. I think I'm going to pass unless Splash Damage does some ninja-patching. Because id likes OpenGL and Splash Damage apparently likes id's engine.

I was speaking in general why games haven't adopted DX11 as of yet. My main rage comes from Crysis 2 (For example), that came out with DX9 only and not even DX10!!!

About time somebody pointed out the facts about DX and OpenGL.

Because a lot of smaller game developers can't afford to source out DX11 engines for their games. The old tried and true DX9 engines still work, still look pretty good, and they are cheap to develope for. Hell, Portal 2 was DX9 and it was absolutely amazing.

I just played 10 minutes of it then turned it off! Oh well, the disc will make a nice coaster.

there must be something wrong with me.
i think it looks pretty good actually, the graphics i mean. the controls are fluid, shooting is fun. i don't really see the borderlands resemblance. to me it seems like a cross between team fortress and quality graphics ![]() i haven't had much time to play yet with work, but what i have done seemed good. i do agree the bot-matches for sp suck, but i knew it was an mp game going in. the price tag doesn't reflect the lack of sp campaign, but i got it 30% through d2d anyway ...
