Help with with dead PC?

Computer won't recognize any connected divices ie. HDD, DVD drive, Blu-ray. etc... Checked everything I can think of and going to clear CMOS any ideas what could be causing it to not start? I get black screen with a read out saying no input device found, thoughts on what could be causing it?

Check Keyboard and Mouse connections, primarily KB, some older systems I've had wouldn't POST w/o a kb connected. Got system specs for it?

a quick google of the board makes me wanna lean in the direction of the motherboard being dead
but before that
do you have a video card you can try to see if its just the onboard video thats dead
am3 boards are cheap should beable to find a replacement for ~70 bucks

Try with one stick of memory only in different slots and if dont work try same thing with a different one. unplug everything else and see if it post. If you have put an add-on video card remove it and use the onboard one. mobo, cpu, one stick of memory and remove all usb stuff, hdd, optical drives etc.

see if it post.

if not still posting then remove the memory stick..it should beep at startup because the system lack the memory..if the system does not beep then your mobo is dead. but be sure to look if theres an onboard speaker on your mobo or one on the case correctly connected to the mobo.

This is a PC enthusiast site, this PC is a prebuilt (spit!) and not even yours at that. I second shooting it.

It sounds like a bad mobo anyway and a pretty rubbish spec. Not worth spending the time on it.

Thanks, ran it all and all is good on that end I'm thinking it's the HDD and until I can hot swap on another computer to verify I guess it's a waiting game. What I don't understand however is the fact the it's not recognizing anything except memory. If it helps when I ran a system diag. it came up with and Error BIOHD-2????

Well good news the drives not shot my computer detected it fine. Everything from crappy Vista is still on it. I switched out the sata cords on his computer and at first it detected the DVD and Blue-ray drive but not find the hard drive. Before we couldn't even get it to detect anything. So still testing will let you know bro.

Well its the Pegatron M2N78-LA You would think with the name like that it would be bad ass. Start looking for a new board I will look around on Newegg need something that is compatible with this memory. Oh and small enough to fit in this tiny case. I don't understand how your bro thought he could fit a 6990 in this Well you did say he doesn't know any thing about computers.

Pegatron is a subsidiary of ASUS (more like a split-company), that manufactures motherboards/components for OEMs.
And if I remember correctly, Pegatron also manufacturers ASRock's motherboards and ASRock is known for being reliable.

It's as bad ass as a budget ASUS board.
Look for replacements in that category.
