AB works perfectly here on a reference 6950. I've got a max core speed of 980 MHz without a too harsh voltage increase.

You can not edit the BIOS to overclock your card as the driver tries to detect these changes and locks the system on purpose. BIOS edition works *only* for voltage control on 69xx.

The RacerX Overdrive mod will open higher clocks for you.

@Plug
If you have reference card, you can use bios from HIS HD6950 Fan Turbo. It has higher CCC limits and better stock clocks 840/1280.

My card is working on this BIOS (but with unlocked shaders) since March.

Thanks, I've been hoping for a bios like that. I may have to give that a shot.

What are the new limits? Does it run at the same core voltage as a reference 6950 (1.1v)? Does the fan get loud? What are your temps like?

Sorry for all of the questions but you have my interest. Thanks again.

Voltages and Fan curve are the same as on reference HD6950, but the CCC limits are on 900/1350. After unlocking this bios my temps in idle is about 44-45 degrees and in load 80-90 degrees (it depends from the game I am plying). The fan never goes more than 40%.

Oh I thought that the fan profile was a bit more aggressive. That would be sweet.
