okay I'm thinking of selling a mint gtx 460 what is it worth
It is a MSI gtx 460 Twin Frozer II one GB. Also it does 900 core no problem with some voltage increases. 1. what is it worth? 2. Is it worth it to get a 560 ti or 560? Last I noticed it will not play all of my games at a sustained 60+ frames at 1080p, 45 to 50 frames yes but thats it. If I sell it will a 560ti do it or do I need a gtx 470 or 480 etc.... I am one of the few people who does like the green team a bit better. I was thinking the gtx 460 is worth 155.00 shipped or so, but if it is a waste of time I will just keep it. I mainly game on my PS3 but I would like to pay some steam games from time to time. I had a 6950 and it was great but I just didn't like it for some reason.

Sli a second 460?
probably cheapest route to increased frames,as long as your psu is up to the job. |

I can use the sli mod but I would like to stay with one card. I had a ref 480 gtx but heat was a issue so I sold it. I do like the MSI 480 gtx Twin FrozerII but I'm not sure maybe a 570 gtx. My current 460 gtx averages decent frame rates but It seems to struggle at 1080p sometimes . It is very playable in most games but does drop in the 30 frames range sometimes.

I understand the logic of staying with one card,it makes sense for money/temps/and psu requirements, aswell as the increased noise.
I wouldnt personally consider a 570,as clearly your not afraid to overclock your gpu's and i understand those cards can have issues with vrm's... how about the evga 460x2win? The 480 would get my vote, reasonably quiet but well powerful. Is there a reason why you arent considering amd for gpu's?I understand they are alot cheaper an quiter. |

me too
![]() not so much the prices or supplying high end cards with not enough vram or decent cooling though. you can use a 470 at 2550x1600 but theres not enough ram for it to work smoothly, seems like bad practice to me.. |

I'm running a EVGA 560 ti, and it's yet to struggle with anything I've thrown at it. It's done well enough that I've not even bothered checking minimum frame rates.

If you do get rid of it, don't waste your time on a GTX560 or GTX560 ti, the GTX560 is just an overclocked GTX460, and with your GTX460 already doing 900MHz, your GTX460 would be faster than a GTX560, and the GTX560 doesn't really overclock that much more than 900MHz anyway. The GTX560 Ti just isn't going to give you that much of a performance boost either once you consider in your overclock.
I'd go wth a GTX570 personally, just keep the voltage under 1.09v and the VRMs should be fine.

A 1gb 460's vram size shouldn't be holding you back at your resolution and they really do SLi well together, I've tried it. I would get another 460, but if you're dead set on using a single card and want to stick with Nvidia I would go with the 570.

few others mentioned going SLI is the better choice, but if you can sell your card for like $150 (i don't know the reselling price of these in US), it seems you get the same bang for the buck either way. plus, you don't get the driver headaches of SLI (or CF for that matter) which can be a substantial thing. get this rather than overclock the 560 on your own, because it will have necessary cooling performance for the overclock.

Not once you consider in an overclock on the GTX470 it ain't. A GTX560 is faster than a stock GTX470, but the clock speeds on a stock GTX470 are so inanely low, it is pointless to use them as a comparision. A GTX470@800MHz is hard to be topped even by a GTX560@1000MHz. Especially when you start using some of the features that really benefit from the extra memory bandwidth, such as high levels of AA and Tessellation.

Well anything over GF104 from the original Fermis, you're dealing more with heat and power consumption. I'd still consider dual 460s since you'd then have the GTX 480 performance with less heat/power cost. That was the beauty of the 460s. You didn't buy them to have them as single cards, you bought them with the intent to SLI.
But if you must sell...give or take that would get you about $150. You could have gotten more before the 560 release. I'm currently looking for a 2nd 460 but I'm waiting for them to dip more into the sub $150 market. Which it will soon. Newegg just had a bunch for $130 after rebate. |

Power Draw: The difference is about 20w(stock vs. stock), not something enthusiusts are concerned about, especially when it comes with a performance increase. Temps: Don't matter, as long as the card runs cool, my GTX470s never go over 80C.

Even over a 480 non ref cooler for less money? Well I have to say this card is very good all things considered. It plays Dragon Age on high no problem and that is no small feat.

I could see 155$ easy. 460's are still good cards.
now if I'm right, you're bored again. If you are then you're more than like going to sell the card regardless of how much sense it makes. Recertified: EVGA SuperClocked+ 015-P3-1485-RX GeF... http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/M...dition/27.html food for thought. |

I doubt $150 is possible.
I just got an ad in the mail for a gtx 460 1gb for $119 brand new from newegg. Hope that helps. |

Where are you seeing $200 sir? newegg has them for $149, and $126.99 with rebate. so I think you need to admit that $155 is way too much for a used card. |

I sold my q6700 after 3 years of use for 20$ less than i paid for it and this isn't trt's first rodeo with card sales either. besides you need to compare like products. Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, D... his sits between the cyclone and the hawk in clockspeed, performance, and features. checking both amazon and ebay he'll have no trouble moving at that price. Inface the only place he'd have trouble is right here on tpu, but I never recomend selling here to those who want a decent amount for their products. I'd say go for a GTX570, its exactly what I moved up to from a GTX460 1gb that I had running at 900mhz too, so very similar scenario's, our systems are very very close performance wise too.
the GTX570 represents a LOT more performance than a GTX460, especially if you overclock it too, my advice is to go for one of the 3 top non reference cards, the MSI twin frozr, ASUS Direct CU or Gigabyte OC model, all have better components and cooling and clock like MADNESS. |
