If core 2 duo was delayed 6 months, history wouldn't have been any different. successful products may be delayed.
Has anyone even reproduced the TLB bug? Seriously. Best chance is to load all cores and have them virtualized. Even then, it probably will never happen.

agreed. Nor even a titanium asteroid is as solid as my phenom.

But media and reviews killed the thing. It was a very underrated product.

And AMD had to release the fixed version immediatly. That harmed AMD... so industry learnt anyway... media is to blame? they're just playing their card too...

I'm thinking they just want to get a few more revisions in before they commit to the platform that will be around a while. But yes, it could be a calculated decision against Bulldozer. They want to know how competitive it is so they know how high to set the clocks on the 2011 chips.

2011 is the enthusiast platform--it isn't going to "kill" 1155.

Well, I'll probably hold off until Ivy Bridge then, was planing an upgrade towards the end of the year, but I think my current rig will be enough until May 2012...

Going to let AMD put out the BD ( Big Disappointment ) then once that is out and AMD is showing off Intel crushes them with the launch of this Sandy Bridge-E killing AMD once again and giving us all a taste of what is to come Ivy bridge and 3D transistors !

If Bulldozer can outcompete the 2600K, then I am gonna have to bite at that. Never considered a i7 920 a great enough upgrade (for gaming) over my E8400 (I seen performance boost on similar machine and wasn't that impressed). Then when the 2600K came along, that only marginally improved upon the i7 920-960 series. Not really the upgrade that I had been holding off for. But at this rate, I am gonna be stuck with my E8400 for BF3 release time.....this cannot happen! Bulldozer better be good....real good.
If Bulldozer was competitive, Intel would have rushed in LGA2011.

Intel didn't rush anything when AMD64 came out. Oh well maybe they learnt that lesson.
Seems that both companies are really precautious on any step they make now. Still anything can happen...

Nobody will be killing LGA1155. LGA2011 and LGA1155 will co-exist just like LGA1366 and LGA1156 co-existed.

Yeah they did: EM64T and Pentium 4 EE processors that you could cook a roast on.

The delay could also be do to the weak economy and/or investor relations. Launching a major product when the economy is weak doesn't generate a very large spike in upgrade sales.

Because they didn't have anything at the time. Then they banked too heavily on Pentium D ignoring that AMD was already working on a monolithic dual-core chip.

This could mean time for AMD to catch up. This is going to be good...

sorry for the troubled economy in that hemisphere. In this side we all are in a cronic economical crisis so we got used to it.

LOL good news just think 1 Jan 2011 they can start with 1cpu = 48core socket 2011, if not then they earned their usual nicknames.
ROFL if only there was software Viagra for this Intel delays, maybe software can get Intel back up ROFL
Sounds like the Apple IBM G6 fiasco and look where IBM Apple partnership ended up.
I wonder how Intel will catch up to lame idiots like me with 240core 22400stream cores home office pc with their socket 2011.
By 1 Jan 2011 I would likely need to upgrade again.

Sorry Intel I have deserted you for Magny Cours.
