need some help opening a .dat file.....

as the title states..i need some help...a friend bought a new pc and transferred these files to it, now they will not open.tried office and word perfect..no dice.... i would have to send you the file or if you know any programs feel free to let me know... these are files from her pampered chef

Aight, I'll bite. What the hell is "her pampered chef"?

.dat = data file, which can be literally anything.

she sells pampered chef products..the program she has from them will not open the files now... she had a windows xp machine before, now has a windows 7 machine

i think he meant her as in her's , and Pampered Chef is a salesman program

does Pampered Chef have it's own software, what do the dat files normally open in?

.dat files are rarely directly opened, they are more often opened by the software that uses it.

I don't know if will help, but I noticed in a thread someone (@chefsuccess.com) mentioned, that, you need to use the restore to import the file.

I don't use the software, so, I have no idea on the steps/procedure.
