Batman AA

I know i am late to the party, but i just wanted to share how much I love Batman: Arkham Asylum. Probably my new favorite game. Steam at it for $8 today, and i figured since i want Arkham City then i should probably get Asylum.

Agreed the fighting looks awesome for how easy the actual fighting is. Sometimes it's like something out of Soul Caliber, just fantastic looking.

As long as Arkham City is more open than Arkham Asylum, I'll be happy. I was disappointed at how closed Arkham Asylum was.

Especially the indoor sections. Outdoor was pretty sweet. One thing that I am hoping for is the ability to set traps that are actually worth a crap.

You are trapped in an insane Asylum and you are disappointed how closed it was?

no Batmobile in Arkham City. it's not open world in the Grand Theft Auto sense.

Yeah, I've not played the game (only demo), but I thought the same thing.

I always thought the whole purpose of the game is that you are trapped in there with all the maniacs and old time enemies. If there were any open areas, well, Batman could retreat to a safe place on the outside, think of a plan, gather info/resources and return later to kick some asses. Not as dramatic as I think the game was thought to be, but I think that's what Batman would do if he could* and please don't tell me that Batman is too badass to retreat, etc. I've always considered Batman a more realistic hero, whose strenght is intellect, investigation/planification and infrastructure and that's why I love it.

* That's why he has to remain inside IMO.

Captured the feeling of "being" Batman. The vertical takedowns are awesome. Great performance and looks extra sweet with some of that Physx cranked.

Securom and PhysX have kept me away from this, irrespective of the price, but I have no doubt that it is an excellent game.

I just assumed there was a break out or something and you'd get to explore the rest of Gotham City looking for those that escaped from the Asylum.

Don't reformat before you finish the game. GFWL make using old saves incredibly difficult if not impossible. And as I refuse to play the first half over again I guess Ill never finish it.

I've had no issues with Securom and i have it installed on a few different machines. As far as PhysX goes... I played it first with my GTX285 with physX on and again with my current CF 5850's and It looks just as good with out PhysX.. PhysX is just an over rated gimmick.. It's cool the first few times, but not a deal breaker for me..

I would like to enjoy this game but I simply can't find a fix so that my Logitech Dual Action controller will work with it properly. I tried to play it with keyboard and mouse but, like a lot of console ports, I just don't like it as much. I've had the game almost 2 years now and that's the only holdup, as silly as it sounds.

Try the XBOX360 Controller Emulator v3.0 @ ToCA Edit by Racer_S or x360ce vibmod 3.1.0.4 BETA3 by the same guy. I've used vibmod with my Logitech Dual Action Controller for games that use the 360 controller before and it works great.

Reading this thread made me play a bit more of it again as I started a new game.
Forgot how to fight in the game though and was beaten by the guys with the electric battons.
Found a heap of Riddler trophies and some landmarks.
