AMD Catalyst 11.7 WHQL Released

AMD today released this month's major update to its Catalyst software suite, Catalyst 11.7 WHQL. The new driver introduces a few major bug fixes, and provides WHQL-signed support for the recently released AMD A-Series APUs, apart from Radeon GPUs and AMD 8-series and 7-series chipset-integrated graphics. AMD claims to have fixed all outstanding issues related to cursor-lag; a variety of system hangs noted when using HDMI or DisplayPort outputs have been fixed; a number of video playback issues, some generic and some application-specific, were resolved; the "checkerboard" pattern display corruption issue related to Eyefinity on CrossFire setups in DirectX 10 games was fixed; and flickering issues related to Portal 2 were fixed. The driver doesn't introduce any new features or performance improvements, but with greater stability, improved performance should naturally follow.

DOWNLOAD: AMD Catalyst 11.7 WHQL for Windows 7/Vista 64-bit | Windows 7/Vista 32-bit | Windows XP 32-bit | Windows XP 64-bit

A list of changes follows.
  • All issues experienced with mouse cursor lag have been resolved
  • Resolves system hangs seen in the AMD Catalyst 11.6 driver on specific HDMI and DP displays
  • Log event (Event ID 62464) issues when playing video content have been resolved
  • Bluray playback using PowerDVD 10 under High Performance mode no longer randomly displays a blank screen.
  • Bluray playback using PowerDVD 10 under High Performance mode no longer randomly hangs.
  • Some Divx format files no longer display video corruption using WinDVD.
  • AVIVO Video Quality settings are now correctly applied to Flash Video Content.
  • AMD SteadyVideo is now applied to Home Video clips when using WinDVD 10.
  • Random screen corruption is no longer displayed when changing desktop themes.
  • Chequerboard corruption is no longer displayed intermittently when playing DirectX 10 titles in a Crossfire configuration with Eyefinity enabled.
  • Shogun II now renders the cinematics correctly when run in various Eyefinity configurations.
  • Video playback now works correctly when Hardware acceleration is enabled with VLC Player version 1.1.9.
  • 720p Divx video clips no longer display stuttering when played using Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player.
  • Crossfire now functions correctly when playing Hamilton’s Great Adventure.
  • Video corruption is no longer observed when when using the Forward slider on 720P Divx format video clips using Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center.
  • PowerDVD now correctly handles 3D Bluray content.
  • Portal 2 no longer displays flickering on water surface textures with Medium and Low Shader detail settings.
  • Image stabilization now functions correctly when playing Divx content using Windows Media Player.
  • Wraparound corruption is no longer displayed intermittently after exiting a 3D application.

That was fast! I wonder why the hell they didn't add the IN ADDITION extras in the 11.7 driver?

Because they are not WHQL certified. Getting WHQL certified takes some time.

Zero cursor lag, and 3DMark11 got a 37 point increase @ stock on the 11.7's and a 57 point jump on the 11.8 preview driver

UPDATE:
The preview driver ha a few different goodies in the overclocking department. I'm thinking it's going to be tied to Bulldozer but is also working on my X6 cpu.

Other than the certification, are these any different than the 11.6b drivers? As you know, the 11.6b drivers are displayed as 11.7 by CCC once installed.

It looks the same on an Intel machine except there is now a user agreement thing the first time you click on overdrive, the tab is filled with "overclocking is not supported" bla bla do it at your own risk bla bla, then you have to agree before the overdrive tab opens.

11.8's are working well on my HD 5770 so far. Nice image quality too and the new goodies are actually integrated quite well from a first glance, maybe time will tell

Sure here you go,

The cpu auto clock does work, you just need to let it run for 5min and stop it. That unlocks the greyed out sliders.

I am going to give the 11.7 a try now , As for the 11.8's I will wait till they are official . So are the new goodies only for AMD CPU's ? I mean I do not think that they would be a working viable solution for Intel CPU's .
