laptop advice needed
I am looking for a laptop that is around 3-4.5 lbs maybe 5. Hd video capable so i can plug into a hd tv. No need for gaming. Battery life doesnt need to be that good as i will have it plugged in a lot for home use. I would also like for it to be cool and quiet. Around $600, absolute max is $700, but hopefully not that much since i dont need a dedicated gpu. I have a 1 terrabyte external hard drive so dont need top much storage space either. Around 13.3-15.3 inch screen.

No, I was under the impression desktop FX's just came out and laptop versions were still on the way. Especially when you are showing 1.5 Ghz laptops to him. personally I would not buy a 1.5 Ghz anything but a phone.

You must live under a rock, like that 1 geico commercial...pretty funny but got old quick...
Anyway, the reason that majority of laptop users have them is because it is to be mobile and the problem with that is that they want to be able to use their laptop AS LONG AS POSSIBLE without having to charge it back up again. Hence the 1.5Ghz Quad Core CPU should be PERFECT for regular word processing/photo editing/video editing...nothing TOO hardcore about it, but if the need arises, like was said earlier...it can be bumped up to 2.4Ghz, which is a pretty significant bump in clock speed. Anyways, I digress from the topic at hand... List of AMD APU's that are currently on the egg for laptops: lenovo IdeaPad Z575 (129925U) Notebook AMD A-Serie... TOSHIBA Satellite P775D-S7230 Notebook AMD A-Serie... Acer Aspire AS5560G-SB485 Notebook AMD A-Series A8... ^all 3 are $700 TOSHIBA Satellite L745D-S4230 Notebook AMD A-Serie... HP Pavilion dv6-6110us Notebook AMD A-Series A6-34... TOSHIBA Satellite P745D-S4240 Notebook AMD A-Serie... ^all 3 are low $600

I would have recommended others, but AMD hit it on the head with their lineup. The $600 range laptops are just such a good value for what you get. Anything higher up, I would definitely have to recommend the i5 or i7 laptops.

Dollar for dollar AMD a8-3500 and a6-3450 systems are the best bang for the buck. Great battery life, excelent media playback, most of them have 15inch screens minimum. Right now AMD fusion laptops with a4/a6/a8 chips are the best bang for the buck on the market and will even do some fiarly intensive gaming. You can't go wrong with the products the have out today. check some of the links above, they fall in you desired 600-700 range and they will give incrediable performance for the $$. if you need more cpu performance "not what you indicated" intel I series but your looking at 750 and up.
