SLI 2Gb GTX 460 or SLI GTX 470's?

Can't make up my mind

GTX 460 2Gb SLI will cost me £230 but have no waranty were as the GTX 470's will cost me 3300 and will have a warranty.

I'm thinking the extra VRAM on the 460's will come in very handy.

At this point, I wouldn't bother with 460s any more. Get the 470s, or even 480s, but get them used for a much better price.
Edit: my ancient gtx285s outperform a 460 still. I myself won't settle for less than sli 470s for next upgrade.

I doubt a GTX 285 will out run a GTX 460.

They are on par, slight advantage the 460. That is the 1GB version.

On-par?

You can clock a GTX 460 to match a stock GTX 470.

I've never known a GTX 285 to clock to a GTX 470 level.

Maybe they were equal on early drivers but not now?

When you compare two cards you do that stock. Of course the 460 can be clocked higher and so on. I was just making an estimative comparison between 2 cards from different generations, one a flagship, the other mid-end.
