Thermaltake competition for Techpowerup

Hello Guys,

you have been very helpful with all of the feedback and letting us help on your community.

We would like to give back to your community with some prizes and hold a small challenge or competition for your community. But rather than just tell you what the competition will be we want to know. What do you want the challenge to be?

Do you want a benchmarking challenge? high score, low score, limited clock or all out?

Do you want an artist contest like lets say wallpaper design or something cool like that?

Do you want a photography contest where you have to photograph certain items that we list?

maybe you have a better idea, post in here and the most popular idea will be the one we will most likely run here and get you guys some cool prizes!

post up guys lets get something going!!!

i would love something different. the low calc challenge is kind of cool something along those lines would be fun. hell throw in some real challenge like first person to get score XXX in a certain benchmark. i like science mark and it would be a pretty tough competition trying to get a score down to the decimal. anything under 1200.xx is possible on almost any system making it a pretty fair little comp as well.

Since you used the plural term "prizes", how about multiple contest categories so people can pick what they are best at to win a prize? (artistic, photography, OCing etc.) You could have one winner for each category.

Personally I like the artistic ones the best, as I've seen some fantastic work by TPU members, but not everyone is good at that sort of thing.

Just my 2 cents.

The photo contest would be nice for those without blazing fast rigs that can't keep up in the benchmarking stuff.

That would eliminate anyone who does not own a TT case. I think that would be more suited for a TT site promotion than a site like TPU where people use a plethora of hardware.

Having people write something humorous always seems to bring out the best in our members.

I think you should have a limited year, like 2004- current. Because I have some super old comps that are running at 60mhz , I could under clock those things like a mofo.

I like the creative stuff. I think modding, hardware photography, or even a game screenshot contest would be best. I'm leaning more towards the image stuff since it doesn't cost anything to do.

I never said it was stupid, Arnoo1. I could actually enter as I have one of the orginal Armor cases (and love it).

I still would like to see multiple categories, but that's up to TT as it's their contest.
It should be interesting in any event and it's always nice to see vendors giving back to the communities.

lowest score benchmarks are pretty easy if you have any idea what you are doing. unerclock and bog the system down and hope for the best.

Look at the TPU/Powercolour contest, a lot of tweaking can be done there. Also, it's been done.

Anyway I don't have any ideas really. But it would be kinda nice if it was something you don't need artsy skills to do. Creative contests are awesome (like modding stuff), but also kinda restrictive by nature. On the other hand you tend to get nicer entries in the contest. So I'm not sure.

I vote for a photo contest with a twist. How about two categories, one of just Tt products and one for anything else. Best overall top five get picked by Tt and then voting for the top winners. Could even have multiple winners lime 1st, 2nd, 3rd for each category.
Thanks again for showing how awesome Tt is.

My insane idea: Highest stable running temperature of a GPU while running a benchmark Lets see how far everyone is willing to push their hardware !

( since it is sponsored by Thermaltake )

edit* ... I just thought....... what if the contest is helping find a contest!!!

I tend to agree with Mlee49 here. As stated, one image contest could be Tt products and the other contest on any brand/type of hardware.

How about best gameplay video? I know that would get people going!

Any genre/any game old or new, PC only. What do you think?
