Intel Slip Up Discloses Core i7-2700K

A slip-up by Intel revealed its next high-performance socket LGA1155 processor, the Core i7-2700K. The box part product code of the new chip was disclosed in the latest material deceleration datasheet (MDS) document, as BX80623I72700K, carrying the spec code SR0DG. From the given product code, one can deduce the SKU as Core i7-2700K. No other specifications were given out, but given that Core i5 2000 and Core i7 2000 quad-core models are spaced out in steps of 100 MHz, one can only guess that the i7-2700K carries a clock speed of 3.50 GHz, with 3.90 GHz Turbo Boost. In all likelihood, the release of this new chip could be timed to coincide with AMD FX 8150, displacing the Core i7-2600K from its existing price-point, and making the 2600K compete with the FX-8150 at a more competitive price.

It's a slip-up because Bulldozer got delayed. If it wasn't delayed, meaning it would be here already, then the i7-2700K would be "announced officially" in this article instead.

Its all a chess game. Before amd can release their Not secret weapon of chip domination of sevral years late that will tick everybody off, intel just just punks them. And we just wait hope dream and save up. Man even news not about bd still links back to bd. Gonna try...No more bd talki until I can touch.

because most people will never overclock there cpu's they simply buy on the i5, i7 brand and clock speed. obviously to people here stock speeds mean pretty much nothing.

Sounds like good news ! All this BD talk aside a 2700K chip is going to be out soon ! Another chip to look forward to before Ivy bridge . And it is going to be priced to compete with BD ! Intel is on top of there game ! watch out !

I do not think Intel feels the need to do this just they can . Maybe it will take some thunder away from AMD ( Though I have yet to see any thunder from AMD ) . I personally think this is just a stepping stone for Ivy Bridge and that Intel wants to get the most out of the 2d transistors before making the full on switch to the new 3d transistors , Maybe?

It could be a reveal that Intel might know more on BD's performance and decides to strike first. Or it could be just a thunder stunt to rattle cages. I wouldn't be surprised if they planned for this way ahead just in case BD performance did real well. Always have an ace up the sleeve.

Would this be enough against Bulldozer?

It would be interesting if BD IS the chip that turn things around, oh yeah, keep dreaming, me.

Isn't it possible that some of them are eager to know that date so they know when they can buy an i7-2700K?

This is great news to my ears, I'm upgrading sometime in the next month or 2(just waiting on tuition reimbursment).

Doesn't seem likely that any manufacturer would have two things named 2700K with one being different from the other without some other designation. Clearly Anantech got their story from the same source.

apparently K models are the extreme CPUs where without the K they are non extreme units, only diff K being unlocked

I know that, I have a 2500K myself. I'm just saying (in response to another post) that Intel isn't realeasing two models with the same name (including the K) and it all is the same leak/news story.
