If you were stupid enough to post your stupidity on teh internet, I don't think I'de be very keen on employing you. So I guess that would be a pro rather than a con.

Facebook has something called "photo tagging". Nobody posts self incriminating photos to my knowledge. Also religion would be listed. Many ignorant bosses discriminate against all but their own religion. Sad but true.

By the way don't use "you" in statements involving possible insults in english because it looks like you were saying I did personally and that I am "stupid". I am not offended but you may want to keep it in mind.

Ah, sorry for that. I tend to literally translate what I want to say from my mother language. Wasn't my intent to be offensive

Sorry Boss !

Not sure if anyone suggested this, but how about giving users the ability to modify the site's colours/layouts (theme?) ?

I think one of my biggest gripes is people not reading the thread before posting. It seems like many users just read the OP and give their advice, even if the OP already tried it and it didn't solve their problem.

OP: I have 8GB of RAM, only 4GB is working.

User: Try reformatting your PC.

OP: Already tried, didn't work. [Okay, need to try some other things]

User2: Try reformatting your PC.
User3: Try reformatting your PC.
User4: Try reformatting your PC.
...

And it never seems to end.

I'm guilty of that if the thread is multiple pages long, but I usually include a disclaimer that I didn't take the time to read everything through. People get lazy, but at least they're helpful, IMO.

A long thread I can understand, and I have no problems with because I don't have time to read 50 million pages, but the thread I just read with this issue was only ~1.5 pages long. It's good that people are helpful at least, but the thread seems to fill up with crap quite quickly when the OP spams 2-3 separate posts at a time telling each person who told him to reformat that it didn't solve the issue.

That's 100% true. I saw that plenty of times. In my case I always read the entire thread, but if I missed something I saw after posting, I edit it or remove it to avoid redundancy post that doesn't do more than lengthening the thread more.

Try reading the whole of this 4500 post thread before posting. But yeah, of course shortish threads should be read through.

You know... there is even a search filter to threads.. SO, if your thinking the same thing. Just type the "key" words into the search and you'll find out what has been said in that factor.. But, that's work also.. Where as a lot of people are lazy to even read the thread before posting.

Yeah of course, sorry D. I forgot to add the second bit - I'd edited it while you were writing your response.

Is this a stab at yours truly just recently? I don't mind if you nitpick, just PM me instead of going public. I am a really cool guy with that sort of thing, very patient. Will listen(read) what you have to say, may not respond but will listen.

I'm not taking a stab at anyone in particular. It's just a problem I see from time to time (and seemingly more often as of recent) that I thought I would finally mention. You probably do know what thread I am mentioning though, which may have alarmed you, but no, I am not here to target anybody. I don't want to be on anyone's bad list or anything.

Who knows, I've probably done it myself in the past. Maybe I'm just being bitchy today. However, some members seem to agree with me that the issue I brought up does exist.

How do you want mods to fix the laziness of members.... ban them? Yes it is an issue, but nothing can be done about it. As said by EarthDog, ALL forums have this problem

To be honest, all people have this problem: we often respond without having listened. I have an excellent view of the moderation on this forum, but good as they are, I feel that even they may fall short when faced with thousands of years of genetic and social programming. Still, I suppose there's no harm in asking.
