idk why, but many people have a hard time finding out how to delete a post... It is simple to me, but perhaps make it more evident?

Nope, when you edit a post the "delete" button is clearly visible and so the following instructions, so I don't know how it is difficult to see

I know, but I guess people don't see the "Do not delete" and "Delete" radio buttons? idk, personally I've noticed it the very first time I tried, but many seem to leave posts like

yeah that's true, I would prefer a confirmation dialog box with "yes" and "no" after clicking the button, instead of the radio options

Yesterday I reported a thread where someone was asking for help regarding an issue he had with a BST transaction, so that a mod (according to the main forums page, a few mods were on at the time) could take whatever action was deemed appropriate. Today, seeing there had since been moderator activity in the forums but not in the topic in question (which remained unanswered), I replied, referencing relevant PayPal and TPU policies, both for the OP and for anyone else who might have similar issues in the future. There were several other replies as well.

A short while ago, a mod replied and everyone else's replies were erased.

I don't think people like taking the time to contribute useful posts to the forum and then having them disappear. Most of us understand and agree with the removal of posts which break forum rules, but why contribute to a forum where even useful contributions might go poof in less time than it took you to write them?

Because we have a system of dealing with this type of thing and we are sticking with it. We like to keep discussion of these things limited to the buyer, seller and moderation. This is why there is a thread for it in the B/S/T section. Besides, you know it was me, my PM box is always open.

Oh god yes. I've just had someone write a small volume in my VT-d news thread defending Intel's buggy CPU's, accusing me of "bias" and challenging me to explain myself. Like I need to.

I can understand asking for clarification, or genuinely wanting to correct an error, I always appreciate that, but accusing me doesn't dignify an answer and would most likely incite an unpleasant flamewar if I did.

I still want this and didn't hear a good reason why something like this can not be implemented...

Why is it assumed that "relevant and useful content" will be sifted to the top via the voting system?

There is no way to guarantee that with a voting system.
I understand what ZZZ would like to accomplish and the only way that I can see it being somewhat resistant to abuse would be to use some sort of keyword based system.

That too could be abused, but I think it would server it's purpose better than a voting system.

Just my opinion.

Because if someone finds a piece of information relevant or useful I would mark it as such, flag it, check box it. Whatever. The more clicks a thread or post receives the higher it would show in the search results. Just another method of sorting search results based on user input.

Sure we do have people that would find a way to abuse it. However I think it would be a great way to find topics easier and really it wouldn't change the layout of the site in anyway. Just another way to sort data, but from a end user perspective.

Maybe there is a way I can create a FireFox extension (which I am looking into) that will crawl a thread and get the total number of "thanks" then if you have the extension installed you could see how many total thanks were given in a specific thread. This would give you a good idea + common sense on whether a thread is really useful, or just a thanks circle jerk. That would avoid a lot of the potential abuse.

Much like the extension used for Reddit that shows comment karma.... Huh? What about that>?

How about a button to flag stupid posts, ie: still in the rules posts but that spread misinformation or something. After a certain amount of flags, that posts would be "hidden" and if someone wants to see it, gotta press the show button?

we have one. called 'report post'

moderators 'hide' the post so that only other moderators can see it.
