Battlefield 3 Coming to Steam! (Unconfirmed)

Well hot damn! This could very well happen now! This is great news to everyone especially those of you on here who absolutely will not purchase this game on Origin.
Anyway, take a gander guys!

As much as I think it's totally stupid that someone would not buy a game they crave just because it's not provided by the service they prefer...I will hope this is true so all the babes can enjoy the game too.

origin has proved to be a piece of shit thanks to the beta. it was 3 days before i could even begin my download, due to it constantly timing out.

Now imagine if you need both steam and origin to start the game. Just a thought. I hope that's not the case.

I think this has a high chance to actually happen to the point it will. I think EA has realized they shot themselves in the foot with Origin

You'll need Origin to run BF3, regardless of the digistribution platform.

You mean you will need Origin to download the game, after that you won't need Origin running to run BF3.

Log out of Origin, and try to launch BF3.

But you don't have to go through Origin to launch the game. If you have Origin running in the background (right now it sits at about 60MB RAM) you can just go to Battlelog. Bookmark it or something.

Steam prices for these new titles are ridiculous in Euro zone. 49,99 EUR (or more) for any new game. Where i get retail disc of the same game in a nice box with free shipping for less than 40 EUR.

I've been using g2play.net to buy steam keys on the cheap. For example Space Marines and F.E.A.R. 3 both under 20 USD

You don't have to go through Steam to launch any Valve game either, it still needs to be running in the background though. That was my point.

I wish the retail (box, physical) copy users are given an option to activate their keys using SteamWorks instead of Origin.

I don't like Origin anyway. Imagine your treybar where you'll have 15 clients running all the time, each for some other service. Steam and Games for Windows Live are enough. If any other game will strictly use just some other service i will simply not buy it. Which also applies to Origin.

^^

Buying keys from third parties is a great way to find shit on the cheap. Be warned who you buy from tho. (NOTE: I got a bad key once, all it took was a threat of going to a paypal complaint to get them to send me a new one.)
